Beautifully narrated, great video footage and editing. Reminds me of my mum and dad, also avid caravan holiday makers with many shacks in their life time. The Scarborough family is a generational riverboat and steam machine enthusiast family. Sadly my dad Bill passed away 19th Jan 2023 at age 86 years. We were hoping to get mum and dad together one last time up the river for a bird's eye view of the Great River Murray in flood, yet I think dad probably had the best view of the river as he went to be with our Lord and Saviour. Keep up the wonderful videos that also bring for many of us out own wonderful family memories. Thank you ✝️💖🕊️
@@justcruisinwithmicksally837 Yes absolutely! Dad made some of his own documentaries. Your narration is very similar to dad, a very special generation! The river is in our blood, or perhaps our lungs from the water skiing and camping trips over 5 decades, Huge thanks!! Keep shining, much love xo 💝🕊️
I echo some of the other comments, you have done an excellent job with these videos Mick, thank you very much for all your efforts! Looking forward to hopefully some more trucking videos in the future
Bonsoir Mick.
Afternoon Mick. To add support to many other subscribers comments; brilliant narration, awesome camera skillset, an amazing country we live in. Isn't mother-nature both beautiful and brutal. Please continue your superb work. Be safe brother and take care. From Bankstown NSW.👍👍🤙🤙
This has been wonderful for us to see the area's you travelled & congratulations on the drone filming magnificent. Have been on quite a few house boat trips leaving from Murray Bridge traveling even further than young husband, which was great as one could imagine. Remembered a lot of these river houses on the way up that are now showing rooftops & or affected by the floods in one way or another. I remember the corner Deli you spoke of & good to see Goolwa is ok, their drinking water comes from Myponga Dam so no problems there with the quality of water. Thanks Mick for sharing your video.
The water at Blanchtown is falling well, my friends sheds are nearly out of the water but still quite high compared to normal pool level. Good work Mick and Sally.
I am hearing that the water is falling a lot quicker than what the rate of rise was. Hope everything turns out well for your friend and everyone else involved.
Hi Mick. Thanks very much for a most interesting series on the flooding of the Murray River. You have done a fabulous and very professional job. It has been great for us to see as we spent quite a lot of time in the area when we did our caravan trip around Aussie. Keep up the great work . All the best from Rotorua
So the moral of the story is that if you are going to invest in a shack, then buy one lower down the river or on the Lake rather than upstream where the river has come up so much higher. Thank you for your interesting videos, I am glad I found your channel.
Thanks Mick and Sally. I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering if youd had a chance to get down and do this last one 🙂 thanks for taking the time to keep us all updated on the water levels. Looking forward to see where you are off to next. Cheers Cheryl 🙂
Thank you Cheryl, we have enjoyed the trips to view the areas and having it all on film will keep the memories alive. Glad you have enjoyed the series.
Thank you for this and all your vlogs ....the Murray in flood was awesome? ( I know not for those directly affected). I viewed Blanchetown to Murray Bridge to Wellington then returned to Mannum - Murray Bridge. Your vlogs are shared -saved) P.S. heard on the ABC that the vlogs taken will be collected & stored for future reference ...great idea Thank you ....Happy - Safe travels ...Jan Adelaide
Glad you liked them, thank you for your kind comments. They will all be a great library for the future. So much happened during the 1956 floods but there is very little video footage for us to look back on.
I wonder if Wellington is a high point in the river system, limiting full flow of the river into the lower lakes. The flood plains at Wellington were certainly flooded on 20/1/2023, but situation pretty much normal in the lakes and at the mouth as you show.
I am not too sure that Wellington would be a high point, just my thoughts on it. There is such a huge flat ground area within the lakes that it would take a lot of water (in my view) to make it flood very much at all. We were on the other side of the river at Wellington a week ago but the road in was close so we couldn't get in to look at any flooding. I have since seen a video showing the flooding between the Meningie road and the Wellington ferry as well as the surrounding paddocks.
Not sure why I thought this, but I was expecting the mouth to show a really strong current, almost like a white water rapid. It's very narrow compared to any part of the river above the lakes. Doesn't look like 160 GL per day flowing through it. Perhaps during low tide its more noticeable.
I haven't actually seen any official flow rate at the mouth, but there is a lot of ground surface area for the water to cover as it gets closer to the sea.
