Try this delicious Murrel Fish Fry this monsoon.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
Murrel / Snakehead Fish - 1/2 kg, cut into pieces
Salt / Namak - 1 tsp + 1/2 tsp
Turmeric / Haldi Powder - 1 tsp + 1/4th tsp
Tamarind / Pakki Imli - 1 tbsp
Water - 1/4th cup
Ginger Garlic / Adrak Lehsan Ka Paste - 1 tbsp
Red Chilli / Lal Mirch Powder - 3 tsp
Spices / Garam Masala Powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Coriander / Dhaniya Powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Oil / Tel - 1/4th cup
Procedure:
1. Wash and strain pieces of murrel fish.
2. Add 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp turmeric powder to these fish pieces.
3. Rub on the pieces thoroughly and leave this for about half an hour.
4. After half an hour, wash the pieces thoroughly. This will remove its smell.
5. Leave the fish pieces in the strainer for about half an hour.
6. Add 1/4th cup water to 1 tbsp tamarind. Leave this or about 15-20 min.
7. After 15-20 min, squeeze and collect a very thick tamarind water.
8. Add ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4th tsp turmeric powder, red chilli powder, spices or garam masala powder and coriander or dhaniya powder to the tamarind water. Mix or blend well.
9. Rub this paste over the fish pieces thoroughly.
10. Rest for 30 min.
11. Before frying, mix the marination again.
12. Add 1/4th cup oil to the pan.
13. Lower the marinated fish in the pan.
14. Close the lid and at times check the fish pieces to prevent burning.
15. When one side is fried properly, flip the pieces.
16. Close the lid and cook for another few minutes so that it is well fried the other side as well. Fry all the pieces.
The delicious Murrel Fish Fry is ready.
