The very first song I ever heard by Muse, way back in the early 2000s when a friend sent me a link. She said, “This song is Muse. If you don’t immediately love it, you won’t like them.” I remember this feeling like it was yesterday. I was in awe, just totally on another level as I listened to it. I was around 13-14 at the time? I’m 32 now, and this song is still my absolute favourite of theirs and one I play endlessly. I cannot explain enough how this song shaped a lot of things for me. Anytime I introduce Muse, I do exactly what my friend did for me.

My god. That bass drum at 2:52 is insane. The drums are by far the biggest improvement on every song on the album. They finally get their deserved placement in the mix and are no longer buried.

I grew up listening to a lot of Muse. My little brother at a young age actually refused to sleep in the car unless The Resistance was playing. I really started to get into Muse a few years ago, delving down into their numerous b-sides and hidden gems of songs. But I've always found myself returning to Origin of Symmetry. Every song on the album has a different sound, a different meaning. You can really FEEL the emotion put into the music. So I guess, now, after years of hearing these songs and knowing them by heart, I was surprised at the sudden wave of emotion I felt when listening to the RemiXX. It feels...personal. Maybe even intimate in a way, because I feel like I'm finally hearing the songs the way that Muse wanted them to be heard. It's no secret that the mixing on Muse's earlier albums isn't the best (especially digitally), and I'd always wondered what the songs sounded like to them. What did they WANT me to hear? A lot, apparently. I'm the type of person to put one song on repeat for hours. I've given that treatment to almost every Muse song I find. Despite listening to these songs for a literal decade, there are things in this RemiXX that I never would have known about. Like the strings in Darkshines? Or the Harpsichord in Micro Cuts?? I would have NEVER heard any of this if it weren't for the RemiXX. So, I guess.. thank you. Thank you for seeing past music not as a finished project, but as a piece of artwork that you can always improve upon and make better for the world. (and thank you for including futurism, that guitar panning from ear to ear almost made me n u t)

Covid-19 took my father away from me 2 weeks ago... I feel absolutely devastated and lost. Since then, I started listening Muse again, song by song, album by album... I always loved Origin of Simmetry since it is a very dark album but in some pieces, like Bliss, it gives hope. Listening again to "Everything about you is how I'd wanna be" touched my soul in very, very special way. We feel and experience ourselves to be eternal... I'll never forget you.
