Wild man I didn't know, I was sound asleep it seems. This was so much fun lol don't mind me falling in love as we go along here Check me out on patreon! www.patreon.com/beldvlmnt #muse #hysteria #muselive
Amazing reaction! Definitely check out more Muse please. 'Kill or be killed' and 'wont stand down' are 2 of the best newest ones, but also try: 'knights of Cydonia' 'Citizen erased' 'Stockholm syndrome'
Great reaction/ finally a reactor who knows what they are talking about. I ran live sound in the eighties and tuning rooms was always the key to the show.
My mentor travelled all over in the 80s - I used to have his vintage soundcraft K2 (I think, it’s been a minute) and there just was nothing like it. Thanks for stopping in my friend, we are gonna have some fun together lol
More Muse please :) Reaction content needs more people like you who actually have something of SUBSTANCE to say about the music/performance! The biggest reason I get so effing annoyed at people who pause frequently during reactions is that they just have absolutely nothing of value to say. Like, if you're going to pause to avoid getting claimed, at least make it worth my time, you know? But you actually got that knowledge, that insight, to make your commentary actually interesting to hear, so that when you pause it's not annoying, and I don't skip through it, because I actually WANT to hear your take. Unlike so many of these other clown channels that are just picking popular songs for the ad money and filling the gaps with verbal styrofoam. I just searched your channel history and there's an egregious lack of Muse! I hope you get around to doing more soon. Good stuff mate, keep it up!
Lol I appreciate this and selfishly love this so much. I understand the term ‘content creation’ comes with a lot of passionate creators, and I don’t chalk what I do up to them at all. So if I’m going to try and be in the space with the advantage of an artists following, I feel like I have to add SOMETHING lol Toss me a request my friend, live preferable (I was a sound tech for 8 years) and let’s get in to it. The techyer the better!!
Matt Bellamy has a Sustainer system in his guitar, that is not natural sustain. Many of his guitars have one installed. Basically the system is an ebow in the shape of a pickup installed into the guitar.
Muse are an incredible band to get techy with. You are right on the bass pathing. I have a pedalboard setup similar to the bassist and I end up with 3 separate channels (that I mix back together). One dedicated clean (just so I can flick from clean to dirty quickly) then one with a russian big muff (really nice low end growl) and on the final one an animato (high end crispy distortion) and an octaver. Thrown before the 2 distortions is a multi effects that does a lot of synth stuff. For a song like this you have the fuzz and distortion on, meaning you need the 3rd channels clean mixing in (always gotta have a clean line there) The bass in Hysteria has a saw wave synth over the top for that crispy raw sound over the distorted bass.... and finally the sustain he gets is from an inbuilt sustainiac - a special pickup that when activated will use magnets to not only read the string, but to vibrate it too for infinite sustain. Matt now owns Manson guitar works who have been building his crazy ideas forever. It's the same people who put the XY pad in the guitar (attached to a kaoss pad) and built a fuzz factory pedal right into the guitar too.... and the different finishes they do.... absolutely stunning guitars.
Hey! Here is The Warning's cover of this, when Ale was only 10yo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fU26wmlF3yg.html Here is Ale doing just the bass 5 years later at 15yo: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qxs0m7GTBh0.html
Guitars are built by Hugh Manson of Manson guitars in Devon, the lead singer Matt helps design them and later became a part owner of manson guitars, guitars have a few unusual built in features including the Fernandez sustainer 401k and later sustainiac live pickups that actively vibrate the strings to power infinite sustain or a harmonic mode which can push the not played to its harmonic operated using pots and toggle switches. Other features include, kill switches, lasers, midi pads, fuzz factory, Dunlop phase 90, hard tail and Floyd rose bridge options, double neck 7 string and unique finishes such as red sparkle, rust, aviation rivets, Matt black, silver and mirror, Matt green among others, you can purchase them from Manson guitar works and option them how you like ranging from 2.5>5k GBP £. Cheaper models made by Cort using Manson specs are also available from the 4-600£ range these form the signature series. The shape is a combination of a telecaster with the smaller more aggressive and sharper cutaway horn of a Gibson les Paul and is known colloquially as the Mattocaster by fans after the Matt himself.
since you like this i would check out Butterflies & Hurricanes by Muse live at Wembly Stadium Plug in Baby by Muse Live at Rome New Born by Muse live at Wembly Stadium
Now that you mention The Warning, At one of their first concerts they play a cover of this track. And that at an age where the bass guitar is longer than Ale is tall.
There can never be enough Muse reaction videos. For starters, just watch the entirety of their live performance in Rome and dissect each song individually. K, thanks!
I actually prefer this song done by a teenager and her two tween sisters, aka The Warning. They don't use as much distortion as Muse does (or any that I can tell). I think it makes the song sound better. You be the judge, link provided in Tom Karasch's comment.
I watched. It was impressive in lots of ways, but as a live performance, it lacked any punch for me. I did see The Warning at Aftershock and they're obviously talented and now quite accomplished. But that old cover of Hysteria doesn't hold a candle to any Muse performance of the song. Just my opinion though, of course, which means nothing.
Well, they were incredible just to have attempted a cover of this song. But you can’t say anyway they were better. The Muse sound is full, they sounds like they were 4-5 musicians, and particularly in this song, that has to be kind of aggressive due to its lyrics. It’s not for kids playing and singing like this (though I truly respect the girls’ talent).
