Stop complaining about people who recently discovered this song or Muse. The point of it is - they appreciated and liked the music enough to find it for themselves. Stop being elitists, it even rejuvenates Muse's legacy.
Listening to this as teenager, it sounds like the lyrics are describing an epic fantasy. Listening to this as an adult, you realize the lyrics are describing a sad reality.
In my opinion this is Muse's magnum opus, and quite possibly the best alternative rock song of the past 30 years. An absolute mind blowing space cowboy journey, shrouded in heavy guitar rhythm and face melting riffs, the moody vocals and poetic lyrics matt brings are the cherry on top. The first time I heard it I was literally speechless. It's a track that will live on. The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin etc.. are legends. Great artists make music that transcends time and space. You feel it in you're soul, no matter you're age or culture. This song will live on, it's achieved legendary status. It's a fucking banger lad. TLDR, this songs canny good like.
You can take muses worst album and it beats anything that came out in the last 15 years lol. This band.....I get goosebumps listening to most of their stuff
I'm here to share your opinion, but also include one thing you didn't mention that I think elevates a masterpiece to a legend: tasteful yet unexpected trumpet
I think it is ‘how can we win when fools can be kings’ and ‘you and i must fight for our rights’ but people are too enamoured with streaming services to do that. Last days they’re v complacent…
Come ride with me Through the veins of history I'll show you a God Falls asleep on the job And how can we win, When fools can be kings Don't waste your time Or time will waste you No one's going to take me alive Time has come to make things right You and I must fight for our rights You and I must fight to survive No one's going to take me alive Time has come to make things right You and I must fight for our rights You and I must fight to survive No one's going to take me alive Time has come to make things right You and I must fight for our rights You and I must fight to survive
@@SphericalVacuum you're right, I thought the same when heard "knights of Cydonia" for the first time. But no one knows where Matthew found this melody))
I was listening to bohemian rhapsody And someone said “This song is 6 minutes long and there is not even one boring part that feels repetitive” I had to think of this song again And here i am And Im glad i did
Matt, the genius he is, does something incredibly smart and subtle. The chord progression is the same pattern played in 3 different keys that "loops". The final chord of the progression determines the next key. So that by the time he finishes the verse, they're back in the original key to play/sing the intro and then the epic breakdown.
Edgy Band Kid Okay but consider this: the song is used like Roundabout in part 1 where the instrumentals are used as a lead-in to the ending credits so you end the episode with this climactic-sounding Western strain
@@misterj9619 wouldn't say simple. They are genuis how they can go try hard or go easy but it is still crazy to create. Also they don't really have chord progressions. Like barely ever.
@@coreygoff7202 ..."they don't have chord progressions"...? You serious? There is literally something called the "Muse chord progression" just because they rely on it so much. I like the band but they aren't some special wizards.
"Don't waste your time or time will waste you" I always thought of this line's meaning violently, like if you mess with time, then time will destroy you. But Matt says it so sweetly, and I think what they mean is please don't waste your time, because time will waste the wonderful person you are.
This is exactly what I love about Muse! They change the style in their songs as the see fit. They don't fear trying something different from what they normally do.!
Still amazing in 2020. Lol, I tried showing this to my daughter, she had no idea what to take from it. Lol, the shock on her face was priceless. Uggghhh, I feel old.
It took me almost 10 years to find this treasure back !! Ô, delicious times of my youth ! when I drove on a fast lane with my car listening to this top volume with open windows on a deep summer night !
I kind of find that comment fucking ignorant to say that you probably only limit yourself to one or two genres, so your in no position to say whether it's the best or not. In fact no one is.
+Zarmen Z he did say one of. It's really quite good, from a technical standpoint. Personally, I prefer Free Bird, but it's easily 3rd or 4th on my list. what's your favorite solo?
Josh Ingle When I hear "One of the best guitar solos ever", it most likely means to me at least that they are in a group that makes them better than others. Perhaps this special group of best guitar solos are from the circus THEN I would understand the logic in the phrase: "One of the best guitar solos ever, hands down". I certainly hope the commenter is not including this solo (a copy and paste job from the 60s-70s surfing songs/Morricone) in the legendary guitar solos of all times. I can care less about the musical arraignment especially the solo, it does nothing for me, BUT the meaning of the song caught my attention:to teach people to stand up for themselves and make their own destiny. Bravo. My favorite solo: There is no room here to answer this question for I have more than 1.
When I was growing up I always thought that they just simply repeated the beginning melody three times, the third time being when the vocals come in. I just picked up my bass to play along with this track for fun and only now do I realize that each time it's played they actually play it in totally different keys. When you modulate so seamlessly you can't even notice 😭god these guys are good
Come ride with me 나와 함께 말을 몰고 달려가 Through the veins of history 저 역사의 베일을 헤치고 I´ll show you how god 내가 할 일을 놓고 잠들어 버린 Falls asleep on the job 신을 보여줄게 And how can we win 어떻게 우리가 승리할 수 있겠어? When fools can be kings 바보들도 왕이 될 수 있는 세상에서 Don´t waste your time 시간을 낭비하지마 Or time will waste you 그렇지 않으면 시간이 널 허비해 버릴거야 No one´s gonna take me alive 나를 삶으로 이끌어 주는 사람은 없어 The time has come to make things right 모든 것이 제자리를 찾을 날이 오겠지 You and I must fight for our rights 너와 나는 싸워서 권리를 찾아야 해 You and I must fight to survive 너와 나는 살아남기 위해 싸워야만 해
This guitar riff blasted into my head this AM for no known reason. Heard this for the first time all the way back in Guitar Hero 3; after hearing it, got hooked on Muse.
one sad thing about playing guitar for 20 years is I rarely pick it up to learn new riffs anymore. This riff 4:12 however, made me feel the same way I felt 20 years ago when I was listening for the first time to some black sabbath songs. It made me pick up my guitar and I spent couple minutes figuring it out. One of the greatest riff of all time in my opinion.
I knew this song before I played guitar hero, became my favourite song from the game, then heard it and loved it in the Halo 5 trailer - moral of the story, doesn't matter how you got here, as long as you like it
When I first heard this song I didn't like it. But then I listened to the whole thing and then I fell IN LOVE WITH IT. This is my favourite song of all time tbh
Gosh, I forgot about this song! I used to listen to it all the time, on my brothers mp3! I'm so glad I found it again, and that it still holds up incredibly well
I've played this song on setups in the test room at Richer Sounds more than once. And this isn't even my preferred genre; it's just THAT GOOD of a song.
This has some influences from his Dad's band, "The Tornados" and their super hit from the early 60's, "Telstar". Have a listen if you haven't heard it before and see what you think.
I think it is the Chorus, but ignoring the composition of the song, I was trying to point out that the Individual sound coming from the synthesizer is what I really like.
I remember seeing the music video on YT for the first time when I was doing another long shift solo at work. A month later, I finally broke the streak of playing it at least twice a day.
Came here because I looked up what "cydonia" means. It's a place on Mars, wouldn't you know! I mean, yes I first heard it from Halo, but I hadn't thought much of it at the time. Good day and goodwill to all of ye
Cydonia also happens to be where the famous Face on Mars is. There are some other mountains there that look like pyramids, which sparked a conspiracy theory that NASA is covering up the ruins of an ancient city. It'd make a cool scifi novel, at the very least.
I listened to muse when growing up as a teenager(14). Its been a while since i haven't heard them. Now i remember what an amazing band they are, wooow.
+Taylor Telles idk why ya'll are so upset by halo fans enjoying this song. Black Holes and Revelations came out 10 years ago (the album containing this track), so I'd think you'd be happy to see it getting attention again.
