The addition of the harpsichord, additional falsetto vocals is a nice touch to an otherwise already brilliant song. I'm spamming this song all day long. You can actually understand what Matt is singing now. Hoping this song makes a comeback at future gigs even if it's pitched much lower than OG pitch.
the thing is, they were always there. They didnt technically ''added'' anything. They were just disabled because of sound mixing limitations or something like that. This remaster/remixx gave them the chance to reach the full potential/version of the album. No re-recording just enabling and clearing the audio 😁
@@Bad_Dog_Gaming In the process of making tracks you often end up recording/creating lines that don't end up in the finalized versions. It's more of a creative decision than anything else (sometimes corporate decisions though). Most likely not due to technical limitations I'd bet. When they were finalizing the album back in the day they might've wanted the album to sound more like rock music and kind of fade the classical influences. (matt hinted at something like this in the video where they talk about micro cuts xx edition) That's purely speculation though. Personally I prefer the 2001 version, in my opinion the harpsichord and "added" vocal lines dont give much value. Though I do like the clearer vocals and mix generally. Just my opinion!
I want to say the same. It was the neatest production trick of this album when I first heard it - and it hooked me. Perhaps that's down to the RU-vid codec and the vinyl will have that stereo 'swing' effect.
@@fentolix5973 I thought that at first, but it's on all platforms... It's a bit jarring for me, after knowing this song for 20 years. I understand they got rid of the phasing FX which transitioned between citizen erased and micro cuts, but i don't see why that would mean they'd have to get rid of the first note from micro cuts, as the phase FX were an artefact from citizen erased. I'm a studio engineer, so i understand the recording and mixing process quite well, but i really can't wrap my head around it, if it is a deliberate decision.
Hands are red with your blame Megaphone screaming my name Whimpers someone I should've loved Souls weeping above I've seen what you're doing to me Destroying puppet strings To our souls Micro waves me insane A blade cuts in your brain Sounds like forks on a plate Blackboard scratched with hate I've seen what you're doing to me Destroying puppet strings To our souls
i love micro cuts but i couldn’t understand the lyrics at first in the OG OOS. Matt’s vocals are so much clearer now and the choruses are even more epic, the harpsichord adds a lot to this. That outro hits different in a chaotic way which fits the song, and i love it. love this remaster
That’s kinda strange you say that. Like the guy above me said, the tempo is the same, but a few of the songs sounded slower to me than the originals. My theory is that since all the dynamics in the songs have been increased dramatically, it’s easier to hear each beat, so instead of the songs playing fluently with all the instruments bunched up into a single sound, you hear them individually which gives the illusion that they’re playing at a slower pace.
@@bandit4690 the song has the same duration as before but it's missing the first bar so I think it's possibly slower unless they added a few details in between or stretched some parts
@@lucas_sg Its the same tempo. The tracks havent been re-recorded, just remixed/remastered. Asides from the possible extra overdub (unsure if they have added stuff or just re mixed in stuff that was buried in the background), the raw takes are the what was recorded originally.
@@stuartgibson1981 I didn't imply they had been rerecorded. I was just pointing out that they had cut off the first bar of the song, even though both versions are equally long. Therefore I'm guessing it might be less than 1bpm slower.
@@andresyunapera the end of the new citizen erased fades out to silence. Its not leading into micro cuts like it did off the original album. I think maybe the audio has been cut short?
I'm loving everything about this album remix, the equalization and added parts make it sound much more dynamic, I feel like it's swallowing me and it feels like I'm hearing OoS for the first time again 🥺
One of the most powerfull Muse's track. Ever. I cannot describe how this makes me feel. It's like watching the mushroom of an A Bomb right in the eye, weird thing is that you enjoy it.
they've changed anything on this track ! even the guitar effect and extra matt's vocals , this is wonderful ! but the song's atmosphere is different from the main version ,but still wonderful.
Absolutely insane !!! I got shivers down my spine. I can't believe i'm reliving the emotions of the first time hearing OoS. As a personal note, i believe the extra falsetto from the 2nd verse is unnecessary, it doesn't sound as unique as in the 1st verse. Also, the faded vocals during the final riff should not be there because i believe the riff at the end is so good that it should not be doubled by those vocals. It's a violent end riff in the style of RATM. Nevertheless, this version of Micro Cuts is an outstanding performance, same with all the remixes from OoS. They all sound like a new, fresh, live performance but in a much cleaner way, without any sorrounding noises. I am now waiting for number 9 !

Honestly this almost feels like an intirely different vocal track. Shows just how much different something can feel, depending on how you treat the mix and the track itself
Beautiful. matt can hit the high notes very powerfully. Also love the remixed drums and guitars. Overall, it has a much cleaner and better sound. Love it 🔥
I gotta admit that i definitely prefer the original to this one. Loved how heavy it was, this in comparison sounds much more reserved. Also liked Matts more compressed voice in the original which almost sounded like a guitar at times.
