VildStyle Oh he's on all manner of things, you can tell by his stance, eyes and facial expressions and he fucks up a couple of times in the performance
when mtv had some music still and the music business was about music (was and still is badly paid) but at least music mattered or nor radiohead nor muse would have been released (imagine them having to promote thru tik tok or instagram)... they looked quite "influenced by substances"
+Ha Kou Well the only one here appearing to have a giant razor up his ass is you. The old Muse was better in my opinion, they're still good, but it's my opinion. I liked them more back then. Grow the fuck up and accept that people will have different opinions.
They weren't really that big back then, a lot of people probably didn't know them or the song, so I expect most people would have been standing there like "Hey, these guys are pretty good..... Actually, these guys are almost as good as Radiohead.......! Wow!"
He doesn't even look fully grown here, but he's still SO FUCKING TALENTED. I honestly cannot think of anybody else, from any era, who's had such precise control over their voice, MUCH LESS while playing just about any instrument so flawlessly. That guy... how the fuck is it possible?! It ain't natural.
zer0 95 Oh you're not kidding man! I've just spend the whole night watching old shows of theirs. It's a little depressing knowing that I'll never be as good at _anything_ as he is at everything he does, but at least I get to watch and listen to him do it, thank God!
+spooky jose Because of the chilis being so popular some people don't realise he has some world class solo gear, Niandra lades, Smile from the streets you hold and The Empryean are some of the best albums I have ever heard.
Matt has went on to be listed in the top 10 guitarists in the world. I would agree with that, some of the things he did in concert without messing up a single chord were amazing.
they might have gotten better with musicianship and production value through the years of extensive arena touring, but this was muse in their prime, still psyched of having the chance to let their song be known. Every legendary band has this phase and that's when you want to be there and witness it, before everything turns to routine and the raw emotion fades away
I am proud to say that Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dom Howard are pretty much the sole reason that I had the urge to pick up the guitar 9 years ago and start playing. I now play guitar, piano, bass, drums and I sing. I have also been planning a musical career since I started. Thank you Muse, you made me realize my life's path.
@sunnaiko I agree, i think these lyrics just help matt feel the song more. I love the live in rome version, but it's clear matt is singing from his soul here, maybe having "seen their loving" and "losing theirs" more recently.
I think this is one of the most funny plug in baby live performances, Matt sings with anger and I can't understand anything he says, he made the intro longer and with a faster rythm, at the end he sang very well, and appeared to be a good time, but very different from the other performances
Your truuuths are coming iin And I feel brokeeen next to youuuuu and I've been in troubleeeeeeeee Baby is riiiight And I've seen your loooooovin mine is gooooooooooooone But I've seen your loooooooooooooooooooooviiiiiiimn uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuauauauuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
It is great! I saw Muse a few times around 2000 and it is incredible how far they have morphed....still great though. I suggest you watch ACDC - Let there be rock, that is a fantastic live performance also....
*first riff* Random audience: wow what a nice riff he got! *when bass played* Audience: what the hell the song he played? *when drum kicks in* Audience: *goes deaf/jumpscared*
That riff he does is so cool I remember him saying in an interview how difficult it was for him to figure out how to complete the riff to make it sound right for a song. These days the guys are just showing off by doing whatever genre they feel like and still sounding awesome. UK always has great rock bands.
Super Saiyan Matt and Super Saiyan God Dom. I think the reaskn they don't do this anymore is so the music industry doesn't implode from the awesomeness xD
It's a powerful song. Even from Matt's atheistic/agnostic perspective, he surely understands how much emotional charge singing about God carries. Also the next few lines - "In unbroken virgin realities, I'm tired of living" - sounds to me like someone renouncing faith; a VERY Bellamy theme.
I want your user I want your user I want your user I want your user I want your user I want your user I want your user I want your user I want your user
There's just something about rock, punk, and metal when it is performed by youth. Just compare this performance to the later years. They didn't need all of the lights and extras because the fire was in their hearts. No matter what we do, that fire starts to fade as we age. Bands can try to change things up, but the fire of youth is just one thing you can't recapture once it goes. It's just the way life works, unfortunately.
These guys have long time been one of my favorite rock bands ever. Saw them in concert and they were incredible but I've never seen footage this far back of Matt and crew... wow Matt was adorable.
Just saw them live in December and they played this! Was awesome to see! Yes MUSE have changed over the years, but so did sooo many other bands - take U2 for example? MUSE are the best live band I have ever seen - and have seen a lot! Rock on Matt and the boys!
