Great stuff as always T.R. almost like you were working on our farm this year- we had to relearn lessons on substrate variability, hydration, blotch-tolerance... Re: strong leapoff in two days, one thing that might be delayhing it for folks is dormant spawn. we started taking spawn outta the fridge 2-3 days before noc and we have strong leapoff in two days now. so don't necessarily toss or replace after slow initial leapoff!

New to the channel great info, love the business side you go into in the videos, been growing for personal use during lockdown and I love it, now looking to get into small scale production for weekend farmers market, would definitely love to see a moisture content check video on how you do it, as this is kinda the part I been finding hard to find reliable content on, thanks for the info

Maybe a video about grow/fruiting room infastructure. The evolution of your various shelving choices vs what you've seen others using. ...how the various options are influenced by scale, cost, mobility, and labor. DIY vs prebuilt. In citrus production uninformed people always say, "why don't you do this to each tree, it's just a few cents." ...and you've got X trees per acre and X number of acres and the few cents a tree ends up being $50k. Any similar situations in mushrooming?

I have humidity level in my incubation room for shiitake growing 25% RH, it is still growing (1 week from innoculation) but will it make any problems further and should I add humidifier even if bags are closed? Temperature is 22C

New at this, trying to learn. Is this possible at home? I have a small bag that is fruiting right now. Is there a way to get a small amount of this mix to keep them going and start another substrate? I'll have to watch your video about moisture check. I know nothing much right now. Love finding mushrooms in wild but interested in trying oysters as a hobby maybe.

Thanks so much for this and all your videos, such helpful content! Quick question, I'm having some trouble fruiting a few blocks of chestnut. I did wait the full month to let them fully colonize but they are just not wanting to pin after about 9 days. I read online they can take up to 7 days to pin or even as long as 28. That seems like a really wide range. Should I simply wait longer? Oh and I used masters mix as my substrate. I also read that I should have used oak and bran instead. Is that also correct? Thanks so much!!

10lb blocks, 57%-60% hydration so you about 4lb8oz dry sub and 5lb8oz water or is it like 6lb water 4lb dry sub?

Does the humidity level matter in your colonization room?

when you say 50/50/60 does that mean the 60 is water by weight?
@earthangelmushrooms2118
@earthangelmushrooms2118 3 года назад
Yes, 50/50 is the dry weight.....60% of the total weight of substrate

Yooo, what happened to the latest video on cooking grains? Its gone! Anyway, I wanted to know how ou dry your grains after cooking, could you elaborate on that, maybe in a next video? Thanks man.
@earthangelmushrooms2118
@earthangelmushrooms2118 3 года назад
Sorry, my phone was screwing up and i accidently deleted it. I'll repost it. The entire point is to hydrate the grain, not to dry it. I don't dry grain after it's hydrated.

@@earthangelmushrooms2118 right, some ppl say that you cant have excess water on the grains, so you have to drain it somehow thats why im asking.
@earthangelmushrooms2118

When it cooks it will be absorbed. Also, you can add gypsum as an anti caking agent

Do you ever use tech, like a moisture meter or just do the 57-60% water to dry weight?
