You are so right Aaron. This must be one of the most beautiful places in the world to reside. No poison ivy or ticks or rattlesnakes or scorpions. Lots of fresh air, fresh water, great people, healthy forests and mushrooms galore come spring ,summer and fall!

Tough Spring, had better hopes after the worst Fall ever. Temps have been too low. Worst part is the photo apps that show you "one year ago today." Pics of tons of mushrooms, last Spring was awesome. Damn Aaron that was an excellent introduction very smooth. Finding some springtime Amanita in northern California and wondering if you eat those. All the descriptions are there to the eye and doing a sporprint. What would be your hesitation any look alike's? Thanks for your input. Keep up the great work
@mushroomwonderland1
@mushroomwonderland1 Год назад
Amanita is a genus that people should use extreme caution with the coccora That grow down there in the spring are amazing, kind of a metallic orange color with large patches of universal veil remnant and a cup like volva. They all have a white spore print, But don't get it confused with the death cap! It also has the cup like volva, But is usually olive green to tanish white. Make sure you do your research! Thanks for the kind words.

@@mushroomwonderland1 Every year I lived in Santa Cruz, there would be a story in the paper about a family mis identifying a Coccora, with devastating consequences. I positively i.d.'d many, but didn't eat due to those stories. It wasn't until 2008 that I finally ate one (got it in the Demonstration Forest in Santa Cruz Mtns.)

In Sweden and nordic countries we still eat them, you just need to dry it first then boil it or just boil it 2-3times changing water between each time and its a delicious mushroom, at least the genus of it that exist in Europe and also Russia I think.
