Hey, this is going to be a short video explaining how to build a "heat-bomb", which is comprised of mainly 2 parts. The upper module is a 200 Watt fish tank heat sealed to the lid of an 80 fl oz pickle jar. The lower part is the pickle jar filled with preferably distilled water, but regular tap will work well enough. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Do you know if this will keep a cabinet with a monotub heated or is it just for incubation chambers

I just built myself one of these. Thanks for the video. I really hope it works for my setup. I've got a 2x2x3 small grow tent. I'll put the heat bomb on the bottom of the tent on a shelf, and my spore bags will sit above the heat bomb on shelves that are higher. I don't think I'll have to use it in the summer months, but I really hope this is a solution for the colder months. I live in a trailer and temperature control can be challenging.

@@Femboy.jax. Sure. I used it last year, around this time. The weather was getting nicer and so I wasn't fighting the freezing weather when I started my spores. I did use the heat bomb and it kept the tent pretty toasty, but again, I wasn't fighting freezing weather. I had a very nice outcome with most of my bags producing a nice amount of shrooms. I did get some contamination on a few. I tried the Uncle Ben's technique, and most of those either didn't produce or ended up contaminated. But the all in one grow bags and a few Uncle Ben's produced nicely. My fruiting took a while and I had the tent up through October. By that time, it was starting to get cooler outside, but the heat bomb did a nice job of keeping the tent pretty warm. All in all, I was pretty satisfied. The only gripe I have is the tent was sitting partly on the corner of my bed, and making my bed and cleaning my sheets with that tent up was a bit of a pain.

I should have mentioned, I live in a 27 foot trailer in Oregon. That's why the tent was on my bed.

Why not put vegetal oil to replace the water, like its done in actual heaters. It will heat faster and easier.

I have a 50 watt one without a dial.its at a fixed temp of 78. Would it work? I'm having issues with my heating mat

Imo it would work but not very well. Maybe if your incubator was much smaller and professionally insulated then i think so, but if it's going to be used in the same way as the large incubator build then it would be better to get something that can run near 90 degrees

Or just use a seedling heat mat in a cardboard box or a storage tote make sure you get the controller for the mat so you can get in perfect heat range. Alot better then using a fish aquarium heater in a pickle jar...

How do you know? This less of a fire hazard than putting a heat source in a flammable box

How large of a space can you heat up with this? ... the 200W fish tank heater says is heats up ~40-60 gal tank. How about in a walk-in fruiting chamber?
