My mom loved this musical. She's no longer with us ,but I Remember her saying that she loved the Music Box Dancer. So I would listen to it every now and then and think of her as I listen. Coming up on March 12 will be 31 years since her passing. And I'll definitely will listen to it once again in her memory. I love you mom
I remember hearing this piece of music on a golf programme called " A round with Alliss. " I loved it so much that it inspired me to learn to play the piano. My parents bought me a piano and by the age of 17 I had passed all my Grades. Beautiful dancing . Maybe now age 55 I could learn ballet!! 🤣.
One of the best instrumentals in pop music history. I can listen to this song over and over again. It is a classic. Thank you to Mr. Frank Mills for composing this classic. A timeless classic full of beauty. I loved it in 1979 when I first heard it and I still do in 2018.
Tocava muito em uma rádio da minha cidade aqui no Brasil em 1972, só que não falavam o nome ou se falavam eu não me lembro e pouco tempo eu encontrei por coincidência aqui na internet. Músicas internacionais eram febre por aqui.
Almost 40 years later and they still get choked up with tears when they hear this. . So many memories And loved ones that are no longer with me and in my life.
I'm no ballet fan. It leaves me cold. This time it's different. This time it's fantastic! Super girls perfect music and brilliant editing. This is three and a quarter minutes of pure joy and I'm not embarrassed to say so.
First time I heard it was in a greasy spoon café with the man I spent 33 years dancing with. We were never on a stage. It was nothing like this. It was better. We were in love. This was the last song ever played for him. But there are no sad memorys. That's why it was his last song. Remember the good. Always the good.
Wonderful tale from what is obviously personal experience. Heartfelt and sincere., to be sure. A big thanks for sharing somethings from so close to the heart. Condolences and best wishes. Funny how music connects such diverse folk as we. (Wonder if Lindsey will come along and correct my grammar....) Ciao, Shirley. Be well.
this was one of the most beautiful music box tune I got when I was a kid. I found a music box in the trash when I was 12 years old. it was this thing fit touched my heart and caused a lot of problems with my family. but to this day I hold this dear. this was one of my favorite pieces ever that I first heard that made me getting to dancing. I will forever love this piece music. I don't care what my family says... This got me into dancing in college and to this day this is still one of my favorites. Love You Frank Mills thank you so much for your beautiful music
Linda Smith - Bless you sweetheart.. I also lost my mom last summer. She was a beautiful gift to this world (as we all in some way are). I was given a wonderful gift of knowing that our loved ones are living in awesomeness and are at their prime age. God gave me a beautiful vision of my mother and she was so very young (like I remember her as a little girl). We can never be so selfish as to want them back into a physical body that doesn’t work anymore. We will soon be with them to enjoy the wonders of eternity with our Heavenly Father. Be well and be blessed.
I remember when this came out in the later '70's. I was a little kid but still remember it playing on the Am radio in the Ford pickup truck we had back then. You know, the one with the metal dash and one bench seat the whole family (5 kids+mom and dad) crammed into the front of with no seat belts. Sometimes, when the cousins were out from the city, all the kids would ride in back with the privileged ones getting to sit on the spare tire and hold the dog's collar. When we got a little older, 10-11, we'd sometimes get to sit on the tailgate and watch the asphalt whiz by under our bare, dangling feet thinking how bad it would hurt if we touched a toe down, just for an instant. Tank tops and butch haircuts. No shoes all summer long. Ice cream cones were the best thing that ever happened. Poison ivy and getting up hay bales by hand with a tractor and a flat bed wagon. All these things come flooding back when I hear this song.
I was a sophomore in high school (Appleton, Wis.) when this song was very popular. In my electronics class someone was working on repairs to a radio when this song came on. One or two of the guys in the class did a parody of a ballerina slowly spinning around.
It's Matt I would like to dedicate this song Can my baby sister Ariel who I very much love and I adore I sure do miss you sis talk to you later your brother dependency outlaw
Oh .....how I love the sight of beautiful girls. Who are the beautiful girls and where do they hail from? I remember this tune from way back when ...I can't recall any more tunes from Frank Mills. Beautiful music.... beautiful dancers....a RU-vid treasure.
Essa música é uma recordação de infância. Passava na TV, quando dava os capítulos do dia seguinte da novela Chispita, na década de 80 (quando foi exibida no Brasil). Há quantos anos não escutava!! Muito obrigado pela postagem!!!
Such a timeless piece. Almost like frank is dancing with his fingers, delicate on the piano. Just like the ballerina. I’m no dancer but if I was, this piece I’d dance to
One of my wife's favorites. In the early years of our marriage, we did not have a TV. A good stereo and a lot of vinyl were all we needed. Thank you, Mr. Mills, for hours of listening enjoyment.
Only few make it as far as on this film. For the rest of us it helps to put out the cigarette , pour out the Vodka , throw the burger with double cheese in the garbage can and closely watch what our body may do for us. No diabetes-2 , no bypasses in the heart , no shortness of breath.
I woke up thinking of my 7-yr old granddaughter when this song came to mind. I usually have trouble remembering names of songs, but THIS one came to me in an instance!!
Does anybody else thinks this video should have more views? Not only the music is great, but the video itself shows such marvelous and beautiful ballerinas. What a great combination!
Reminds of a girl that I dated in High School, she was taking ballet. And I would take her to classes and her shows, I loved watching her dance! That was 35 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
Finally found this song in 2019. Always loved this happy melody. I remember 1st time I heard it on the radio when I was young (am 52.now) we had a radio in our barn We played while milking cows. Could never find in any music store this original version until now. Thanks for sharing and happy to be listening and smiling to this tune again. God bless Frank mills.

In 1983 I enjoyed an extended holiday in the USA and Canada. As part of it I flew from San Francisco to Vancouver to board the train through The Rockies. As we disembarked from the plane the airline was playing this piece of music. Didn't know its title then but tracked it down years later So this piece brings back very many happy memories.
my wife is a former Russian ballet dancer and I have just tried the warm-up they do and it damn near killed me and I was in very good shape at the time, and if you want to hear some very dirty jokes hang out with ballet dancers they will make a sailor blush.
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. The video is a stroke of genius and goes very well with the music. It is a shame we don't have more music likes this from Frank Mills. fortunately we have others like Richard Clayderman, Floyd Cramer, Billy Vaughn, Ray Coniff and many othes. This is music. It is not like some of the stuff we hear most often on the radio.
Incredible. Absolutely incredible. The last time I saw someone running on their tip toes was a cartoon of Fred Flintstone at a bowling alley! But these girls( Ahem: 'young ladies') are no cartoons. They are amazing athletes who have spent years in training to hone their skills and their bodies. You go, girls! The world stands in awe.

When I was a very young kid...I truly thought this was my Birthday song! Isn't it funny what we did and thought when we were little! Thanks for posting!
I remember that he wrote this for his daughter, who had a music box, which had a tiny "dancer" pop up the box was opened. She really loved that dancer; so her father wrote this tune.
... is that really the story??? That is fantastic!! Makes perfect sense as to why so many people, especially when we were kids- fell in LOVE with this song. Truly, one of faves.
Music Box Dance would have to be one of my favourite music of all times. I asked my granddaughter, when she was 9 years old to come up with a choreography piece for a calisthenic solo to this music. I was in tears. Firstly at way her impromptu movements were weaving to this enchanting and magical sound . And secondly at the stirring sound of this magical piece of music. Music Box Dance will never completely fade away.
My brother loved this music. So we played it to him just before he died. Just for a second it bought him back. Now every time I hear this music I know he's around😊
The beauty of this song and video makes me cry. If I could go back in time, I'd have taken ballet lessons. As it is, I'm reduced to my pseudo-ballet around the house when no one is looking.
normally I don't care for piano music or ballerinas but this song and video of the beautiful dancers are fantastic to watch !!!!! I'm going to watch it over and over again.Thank you Frank & all the lovely performers
I watch this all the time. Love the music and yes the amazing talent and grace of this young lady. It just makes me happy so when I feel blue I watch and just want to thank God for life and everything is good again. Thank you so much❤
I would like to add my words of appreciation , it has all been said below , she is more than perfect and the music is fantastic !!!! yes this video should have at least three times what is recorded, pure lovely
I watch this video everyday for inspiration. Beautiful music, beautiful video! Anyone else notice how much they enjoy dancing? No ego, no competition, just pure enjoyment of perfecting the art!
19/12)2022 Hoje por acaso encontro essa bela melodia que fez parte da minha adolescência e Juventude ❤️A fantástica Bailarina 👋👋 Obrigada por esse presente 😍😍
A beautiful melody my Mother gave a music box when I was three or four and it had this tune and a nice Little dancer who danced as the tune played. To turn it on one simply opened it. I remember my Mother's smile as she looked at me whilst I watched the Little dancer move and enjoyed the music. Nice to hear over sixty years later!
They use something called pointe shoes, it's very interesting. From the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre website. "What are the point of pointe shoes? Pointe shoes look dainty, but they really aren’t. The tip of the shoe is a rigid box made of densely packed layers of fabric, cardboard and/or paper hardened by glue. The dancer depends on it to be extremely sturdy: The entire weight of her body is balanced on a small platform in that box! The rest of the shoe is made of leather, cotton and satin. Each shoe is custom made, and hand crafted to fit each dancer’s unique specifications. No two pairs of pointe shoes are identical!"
I loved hearing this on a station that played big band, easy listening, jazz, standards, and swing. Such an array of variety really goes back to the 20s but rose steadily through the 30s and was truly in full swing during the war years. It finally faded out with the 70s. Still, the memories for many music lovers will endure.
This song sounds and feels just as great in May 2019 as it did 40 years ago in spring 1979 when it was in the current rotation on AM and FM Top 40 radios stations.
