It’s all about balance. I don’t plan on staying at my 9-5 for a long time so literally after work I go home and work on music. And stay up til 1am-3am knowing damn well I gotta be up at 6am working a physical and mental demanding job. But these are the sacrifices I’m willing to make to get to where I wanna be. But having a 9-5 definitely keeps my anxiety down knowing I have a steady check coming in.
Solid advice! To add to it, look to find a job/s which pay high hourly wages. Easier said than done I know. But if you can spend some time figuring that out and make it happen, you can free up so much more time to create music. That’s how I do it. I work about 17-20 hours per week doing personal training, some sports coaching, and djing at kids parties (daytime gig 😅). And these are things I will continue to do even when hopefully one day making full time income from music as they’re great ways to keep active and stay youthful 💪🏾
