The tendency is for the artist to try to promote everything, hoping something will catch on. Better to be selective. The problem of course is trying to critique one’s own music objectively.
Ok If you can distribute your music for free why would an artist sign to a BIG disrto company like Empire? I dont fully understand the point of Empire, im assuming they have connections to all the biggest/exclusive playlists in the world on iTunes and Spotify to help get your music heard & they also can afford to give out nice cash advances
I’m also wondering this. There are many more distributors than the ones you hear getting mentioned all the time (CDBaby, DistroKid, TuneCore, RouteNote etc). Seems like they’re reserved for more established artists with a good negotiating power, but would be nice to have some clarification on this.
Hey charles, would like to ask a question. when distributing through distrokid or tunecore do i need to register songs via BMI or such? i'm just starting so not to sure. thanks
Can I release my first song through a free music distributors (which has like 15% royalty claim) and after some years can I change the distributor by taking down the song released from that distributor and uploading the same song through different distributor ..? And also can I use different distributors for different songs ?
