This piece is magnificent. It first starts with piano, tempting the one listening to go to the dark, even for an instant. As time goes by, the melody gets darker, as if the hero was getting more accustomed to the dark side and finding it both hazardous and beautiful. Then there's this slow part - the moment of unevitable decision. Suddenly there is no escape, the dark is all the hero's got, he cannot change his choice, he's doomed for eternity and trapped in the darkness... but not exactly willing to escape (or so he thinks). The ending, being a reprise of the beginning but acompanied by different accords, is therefore much darker. It reminds me of the very first tracks I have listened from this studio - The Untold, One Hundred Strings and Demise of a Nation. When I first heard them, I discovered that inside every human being there was this kind of darkness, unusual but not strange, and that it's up to people what they are going to do with it. This piece reminded me of this discovery. Thank you.

That is definitely an unwise perspective, and you call yourself plato.....the Sith are driven by insufficiency which creates loss of control which then manifests as fascism and creates the desire to want to dominate and control others. The subconcious tries to correct this insufficiency by finding alternative routes. .....there is no freedom in the darkside or if there is, it is very short lived.

Doesn't fit. Thanos did not have evil intentions, he is afflicted with a sense of duty and pain, he cried over Gamora. Palpatine knows he is the bad guy, and he revels in it, he cares only for himself and would shed not a tear over a single other being then himself. He enjoys being evil and this music is suited exactly to that

NCOW John Williams is a master no doubt but his soundtracks from VII and VIII had very little impact on me. I regularly listen to OT and PT soundtracks for extended periods without becoming tired of them. Williams could always do a collaboration with other artists; I mean look how it turns out when Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL collab.

@@FulcrumHQ99 It's a great piece and Djawadi is one of the best contemporary composers around so I can definitely see other artists drawing inspiration. I like the darker interpretation of the chords and motifs used here, and Secession's signature style is still very present which is cool
Just a thought: Sometimes I wonder... Palpatine only cares about himself but he still lets himself wither away by the dark side. I mean look at him in "The Rise of Skywalker". He could barely do anything and was still holding on. Even after failing miserably every time, he still keeps on coming back. He doesn't even seem to care enough to spare himself the suffering. Don't get me wrong, he's not really a tragic character. He loves being evil and all but I still felt kinda sad seeing him even more deformed and broken, yet still being determined as ever. If I were in Rey's place, I would've acted much differently. If I had rage in me, like Rey had, it would've all vanished upon seeing Palpatine because it really saddened me somehow. Just like Luke tried with his father, I would've tried to reach Palpatine as well. Even if it's not working, the intention matters... I couldn't see that heroic, goodhearted person in Rey. She could've stepped into Luke's shoes and at least try to save the last member of her family. I know it wouldn't work but I expected Rey to try at least. She didn't at all! Besides, imagine being genuinely goodhearted or even hugging him. It would throw Palpatine off because the least he would expect is for someone to care about him. Love is something he never experienced after all. However this doesn't mean he can't feel it because force-sensitive people basically have ultra empathy. This doesn't make them necessarily empathetic though.

A slow and gentle climb at first, twisting faster with an eire tone that rises through clouds of hopeful yet vein melody, culminating in a mighty and thunderous crescendo that crashes back into quietness. Beautiful Piece.
So I just recently found your music scores. And I must say, as a person who thinks movie scores are underappreciated and looked over, I love to think that this could have been in an official star wars movie. This score is ominous with a exponential buildup. This makes the Empire seem like an unstoppable force. This is a prime example of show don't tell. Excellent work
