The greatest front man EVER!! His ability to hold an audience in the palm of his hand was simply unbelievable!! You should watch their performance at live aid. They crushed it!!!
I think this performance at Wembley is one of the warmest and most poignant. Freddie in 1986 had these voice problems with his lumps in his throat but in a way they changed his way of singing. His voice took on a much deeper and wider aspect and with the roughness he got from smoking cigarettes. but he lost in high voices, in fact the group to try not to stress Freddie's voice too much they resorted to the help of Roger the drummer who pushed much more than his usual choirs on this tour.
I went to see queen and Adam lambert a couple of weeks ago and Brian may did this with clips of Freddie. This song was written about Mary Austin - the true love of his life. His passion for Mary is shown in every performance. They never got married but they understood each other in a way like no other, he was godfather to her kids. They remained friends till he died of AIDS in November 1991. Apparently in a interview speaking of Mary he said “ all my lovers asked me why they can’t replace Mary, but I said it’s impossible. The only friend I have is her and I don’t want anyone else, to me she was my common law wife. To me it was marriage. We believe in each other and that’s enough for me” In his will he gave half of his wealth to Mary, and the rest to his parents and sister. Most of his friends, including lover Jim Hutton were given £500,000 each or a house. He loved her so much but he was openly gay.
Great reaction, thanks! This is the Wembley Stadium 1986 performance which I actually like better than the Montreal performance. Another fantastic performance of this song is live in Rio in 1985 where the crowd is about 240k and English is not their primary language. Truly incredible interaction between Freddie & the crowd.
Thanks, girls! this is pretty much a duet between Freddie & Brian - notice the 12-string guitar.. these two were so "in synch" -- and Freddie getting the crowd involved! Look forward to more
You guys are so cute!! Yep beautiful song written by Freddie (IMO) about his long-time friend Mary Austin and someone whom Freddie referred to as his common-law wife!! Freddie bequeathed to her over 50% of his estate which included Freddie’s portion of royalties after his death November 24, 1991.
I was there and the size of the crowd was huge. However, you could not focus on that because of the performance on stage. One of my favorite concerts to date! ❤
This was one of the last times Queen performed. Freddie's health went down quickly after this tour. He was a legend and will remain so for so many years to come. I'm glad you both enjoyed this song, it's one of my favorites.
This is at Wembley, not Montreal. It's absolutely beauty. His position in the final few seconds, when he's leaning back with his arms up, is an iconic shot. I've seen it many places.
Freddie suddenly became my hero as the year was coming to an end. You know this thing said about the music you need finding its way to you when you need it the most; Queen's music just reached me and the experience has been magical for me. Love of My Life Don't Stop Me Now The Millionaire's Waltz Bohemian Rhapsody et cetera. And so much more from the "A Night At The Opera" and "A Day At The Races" album. They bring out the deepests of emotions all the while maintaining a heightened form of musicality. There's so much to talk about Queen but I think they were and will ever be the greatest band of all time.
Thanks girls beautiful reaction uou can feel his love for Mary(the one and only love of his life) such agreat talent I have chills every time I hear it such a musical genius all the band are great of course and brian playing the guitar amazing atrue legend keep going make more queen songs
Love your work girls,You must watch the "Green Day Crowd Singing Bohemian Rhapsody" Live and you will hear some thing that you will never forget what is going on and shows the wonder of Queen. Trust me you will be amazed and i don't think this has never happened before.
Hi Lovely Ladies, This was a beautiful performance by Freddie, he had the crowd in the palm of his hands here, just stunning!! 😀 😀 👌👌 The guitarist's name is Brian May 😀 😀 RIP Freddie 🙏 🙏
