The characteristics of music make it impossible to express any specific things,
but yet some people seem to be immersed when listening to music, and can even describe what the music is about.
Why is this?
I am Qi, a doctoral student who combines music and science. Today I will lead you to unlock the secrets one by one.
There are two basic mechanisms for people's expectations when listening to music: inertia and difference seeking. They are contradictory to each other and can transform each other.
Human emotions, on the one hand, hope that their psychological inertia can be satisfied. On the other hand, they are eager for the freshness brought about by change. This self-contradiction forms the core emotional power of all music.
