This was on the album Days of Future Passed (the second album and first concept album by English progressive rock band the Moody Blues), released in November 1967 by Deram Records. The album represents a significant creative turning point for the band and was released as a single in the same year.

This was originally released in 1967! It was rereleased in 1971/2 and hit big. It has been periodically rereleased and has done well.

This song was actually released in 1967 and re released in 1972. Many of us remember it from original release and the shortened version played on AM radio.

Still to this day, I listen to Days of Future Passed to go to my happy place, though I have loved other music, including grunge. It's a sort of magical place, I think. I remember my parents back in the day, especially my father, who was a cellist and classically trained, enjoyed hearing that issuing forth from our bedrooms, though I say on their behalf, they encouraged us to love the music of our generation, as they had loved theirs.

The singer and bassist are both in their late 70s now and are both still touring. Sadly, they are now the only surviving members of the band.

I'm sure you're not the only one who has “played the grooves off that album”😅About this video: I find the sound of the live orchestra here is a big improvement over the original 1967 production. It makes the song sound even more majestic, if that's possible. As for Justin Hayward, who was probably in his 50s here, his voice is as good as ever. Great choice! 👍
