Labels can make more depending on who they haved, and the type of deal they have. But if they want to make significatly more, they need more 360 deals, and try to branch artist out into celebraties Which they have been doing way more lately. But that a high risk, and a long term thing. Its not a good idea. Or just provide more impactful music more often, but artist developement is dead

The lack of artist development is the reason. Signing artists who do not care about music but only about the money is problematic. There are many talented underground artists who do not receive the promotion or attention they deserve from record labels. These trendy artists only last 1 to 2 years and then they fade away. The talented artists with loyal fanbases who attend all their shows deserve more support. Imagine how many more fans these talented artists could gain if the labels invested more money into them.

Music is never dead, but for the people who think they can just make quick music, that’s dead, you have to put emotion and knowledge for the creation of music.

Wait until Spotify starts signing their own artist like Netflix started making thier own movies. Take the power out of the hands of the label.

That would be interesting. Somehow, I feel like the labels would sabotage that. Great idea for sure.

@@TheEraofArts but all 3 major music companies own more than half of Spotify's shares. So they technically already do.

I always try to tune into the new releases or discover some artists putting out music that don’t get the recognition, but honestly the majority of my listening goes back to listening to older songs and albums It’s not to say every single artist or song is like this nowadays, but it definitely feels less authentic, original and/or edifying than stuff that came out 20-30+ years ago

The fact is Gen Z dont love this shit like the generations before them. It's just the perpetuated results that entice them, and that's barely achieved by the majority. These kids don't love Hip Hop, and truth is the music industry would be almost barren without hip hop.

Streams accumulate. It says nothing about the people subscribing. Spotify has been stuck at 266 million users for a long while now. They're not growing their user base.
