Music Teacher Freaks Out Over Legend Of Mana OST Reaction "SO CREATIVE" 

In game, when your character goes to the church in Domina (the first city), you can sit at the organ and your character will play either "play the organ" or "play the organ 2" (it's random, and set once for your game run). Your character either plays perfectly, or like a beginner :D

Yoko has the ability to instill nostalgia into a song that you've never heard before. She's the master at melody driven pieces that will be stuck in your head from childhood till the rest of your days.

It's been a long while since I played this game, and had been hoping for it to be covered on this channel for a long while. Yay! One thing I notice about this soundtrack is how much Yoko Shimomura had a lot of the songs start off sounding really small, then swell and expand into a more orchestrated sound. It really makes me feel like a small person on a journey in a huge land that expands before me. Love this soundtrack so much.

Legend of Mana have the VERY BEST ost ever! When you play the game liste ing to this music, you'll never forget your experience. I even choose the opening theme Song of Mana to pkay on my college graduation ceremony.

Useful notes on part 2 of this soundtrack: Legend of Mana follows a slightly open-ended format, where you explore the world and discover quests along the way. There are three major story arcs you can play through; it's possible to see all of them, but you only need to complete one in order to get to the quests that lead to the ending. Most of the second half of the OST focuses on these. This is why there are clusters of tracks that introduce and then follow specific leitmotifs. Each has a track that introduces the theme, some have a secondary track, then you basically have the dungeon theme, the boss theme, and the ending theme for that storyline. The track "The Darkness Nova" (23) is generally reserved for lesser boss fights that are related to these story arcs. Story spoilers follow... Tracks 37 (Missing Truth) through 40 (The Other Truth) cover the Faerie arc. A half-human, half-demon named Irwin has stolen the life force of Matilda, the abbess of Gato Grottoes' temple, who has rapidly aged as a result. She accepts this because she is in love with him, but her friends struggle with whether to support her or destroy the demon. Meanwhile, Irwin sets out to attempt to destroy the world. Tracks 41 (Complicated Destiny) through 45 (The One Who Waits for the Breath of Destiny) cover the Dragon arc. The player character becomes bound to Drakonis, a dragon who resides in the Underworld, to hunt down three other dragons who stole his power. Over the course of the arc, we discover that these other dragons were guardians of the natural order and had been trying to seal Drakonis away lest he try to conquer the world. The player ultimately has to stop him. This is the easiest one to get through, simply because the game keeps telling you where to go next; for the other two, there are various points where you have to find the starting point to the next part without a lot of help. Tracks 46 (Depression Blues) through 50 (Those Who Are Shining) cover the Jumi arc. The Jumi are a race which have jewels for hearts (they are referred to as "cores" in game.) A long time ago, certain Jumi had the ability to shed tears that had healing powers, but the ones who could do this sealed themselves away to prevent the power from being abused. The Jumi have been slowly dying off since then. A jewel thief named Sandra has been hunting them down. It turns out that Sandra herself is a Jumi whose real name is Alexandra, who is assisting an enigmatic creature known as the Lord of Jewels, who promises to restore the entire Jumi race if he is fed enough Jumi cores. Finally, tracks 51 through the ending cover the final quests, with Silence of Time serving as the final boss theme. Also, it's too late now, but Dan skipped track 49 in the confusion around almost skipping track 48, so we didn't hear the Jumi boss theme except for a little bit at 3:00:28. Definitely worth a listen since it's done entirely on an organ.

Earth Painting remains one of my favorite game songs. Yoko Shimamura did a fabulous rendition of it on the Dramatica orchestral album. I actually bought the physical soundtrack for this game in 1999 from a small record store that used to be in San Francisco that carried japanese music and game soundtracks, and listened to it so much on my portable CD player that it got scratched enough to render several songs corrupted, so I had to request the store to order another copy for me and took much better card of it.

This OST got a Remaster when it was remade a few years back, the drums for the boss songs are absolutely fantastic additions.

When I played this game for the first time (it was soon after FF VII) I was off-put by the pastel graphics and not knowing what to do. But when I gave the game a second chance later ,with the help of a guide, that was when I started to really appreciate it. And when I heard music in different locations and during battles, I fell in love with the soundtrack. The one track that will always bring tears to my eyes is the one that plays at Bejeweled City ("City of Flickering Destruction") with what I like to call "tearful violin" and the sad piano. It will always remind me of all the important people in my life who had gone to the other side... and I hope I'll get to meet them someday in a happier place.

Still feels a bit strange for you to react to Legend of Mana's OST before Secret of Mana's OST. Still hoping you'll do the latter eventually, but for now, I'd like to see you react to Super Mario RPG's OST, please put this donation towards that.

You should definitely check out the Remastered Soundtrack for this game. Almost all tracks were newly arranged with higher sound quality and even some live instruments I think.

One of my favorite games, despite its many odd design choices. Volume in this VOD was really low though . Headphones are at max volume, and it’s still hard to hear, well until the ads pop up, and blow up my ear drums.

Still got the original ps1 copy, pretty much in mint condition too. :)

One of my favorite soundtracks from the PS1 era. When I got married we had a piano arrangement of "Places of Soul" playing while my wife walked up the aisle. Another fun fact, the intro and ending themes are sung in Swedish (I'm from Sweden), which blew my 14 year old mind when I heard it :)
