Part of what Billie does that makes her so utterly unique is how raw, open, and honest she has been with ALL of her struggles ( self image, deep depression, suicidal thoughts, etc). I’m a 55 y.o. Mom who loves that she has normalized, and made it okay, not to be okay, especially for her generation.
Thank you for doing what you do man! I appreciate your love of music and the compulsive need you feel to join in whenever you hear something that touches you. In my opinion, one of the things that makes Billie stand out is how unapologetically real her vocal takes are. Producers in mainstream music tends to smooth out all the "noise" and focus on chiseling the vocals in a way that, at least in my mind, pulls it further from our ability to empathise with the singer as a living breathing human being. EVERY SINGLE breath she takes in can be heard in Billie's studio recordings. That fragile, yet precise, breathy tone she produces is absolutely unique, and anyone that has ever recorded vocals can tell how incredibly hard it is to be that precise with such a wide-open microphone.. Love Finneas' production, and obviously massive fan of Billie! Keep doing what you're doing, and thank you again for lending us your musical knowledge and sharing your passion for music with us! Much love from France
Yeah , I think she’s referring to an ex. Her’s or just a character in the song. One that think you’ll like better is Your Power. Just the sound of her voice about brings me to tears.
I love the way you appreciate Billie and her artistry. Not a lot of people are like that. I had no idea I’d be such a huge super fan of hers. But her and Finneas are pretty much my favorite musicians at the moment and have been for the past few years. I finally get to see her live in NC in less than 2 weeks.
I really enjoy your Reactions to Billie Eilish‘ music! Your freestyle in this video was also very beautiful. Thank you for your work! Kisses from Germany.
Thanks again - a reminder that on her "HAPPIER Than Ever" album, this is the last track following the momentous "Happier Than Ever" track with its two songs in 1, the 2nd half being like a rock anthem. One reactor thought "Male Fantasy" was fine, but thought adding it after "Happier Than Ever" was like someone following Dave Chappelle on stage. I actually think it was a beautiful ending to the album and ends on a poignant piece of self-reflection: "I could never hate you" [even if hating him (sic) would seem to make it easier to let go" - "I COULD NEVER HATE YOU" - MAYBE THAT'S WHY THE SONG SEEMS TO END WITHOUT ENDING. P.S. her revelation on the Howard Stern show about her encounter with pornography beginning at age 11, puts a little different spin on that line. I'm not expecting a reply to any of this comment, but I often wonder, do you reactors permit yourself to listen to music for the sake of enjoyment with a non-analytical ear/brain or is the music analyst always sitting on your shoulder (right next to your ear!)?
Yes, I totally can shut off the reactor in me and just enjoy. Sometimes it’s not easy, but, yes, I can let go. I imagine that anyone involved in music on a deeper level struggles with shutting the analyzer off. Great question.
I'm pretty sure she's talking through the general male pov, when they go through a breakup and lose someone they loved so much to the point where they can't get over them.
That's a lot for someone as young as her. Haunting. STARSET - Manifest (Live), Kashmir drumthrough by Adam Gilbert feat Dublin Taiko, Trials reimagine, Bringing It Down, Devolution, Something Wicked. Bad Omens - The Death of Peace of Mind Muse - Won't Stand Down
Nice work guys 😊 another great reaction, I think you covered everything. Very soothing sound and real lyrics, an enjoyable listen. New Muse single was released last week - seems as good a time as any to do a 5 by Muse! One of my favourite bands, each album is different but still contains their DNA (I perceive them to be genre-less). Think you'd enjoy 👍🏻
Could you react to "The death of piece of mind" from Bad omens please? Also they are releasing some new songs from they new álbum, would be nice if you could check them out!
Always like your break downs. To me, people get distracted by the porn reference and assign a male point of view to what she's saying. But I think the song is about her being depressed over a break up. So she is home alone, trying not to eat...trying not to feel worse about herself; distracting herself with pornography. And her observation about what she's watching is that the dialog is phony: women in porn aren't satisfied. It's just an observation that informs the picture she's painting of her mood and thoughts and feelings. Finally she decides that while she's hurting she can't find hate in her heart for the person that caused the pain. Late to the party but I wanted to get that out.
I've really grown to love Billie Eilish's music. However... I could deal with a little fewer whisper/breathy tunes from her. It's almost become a crutch IMHO.
If u listen to her whole discography u will find what u are asking for. But after all u wouldn't ask adele to belt less bc that's just what she does and breathy closed up vocals is part of Billie's style.
As with all of her videos Billie directed this video; it was ,however , the first one she edited all herself. I actually think that this is about a specific relationship and the depression that follows when it ends. As you can see her shift on the bed and the jump shots on the beats.
