Pretty comprehensive introduction to tonal expansion harmonic techniques. I'm usually very dissapointed by people that tries to explain this kind of stuff, so I came in here with low expectations, but I gotta say I'm happily surprised. Kudos, my dude, when you mentioned polytonality I inmediatly knew you have actually put your time in learning theory.

The “modulation” section is not playing out of scale. The chord progression is just in the key of G. Not C.

I mean it could be written as such but if the song revolves around that progression it’s more likely that it’s just in G and starts on C The chords u used are the Axis Chords of G meaning the 4 most commonly used in pop music (IV-I-V-vi). It just doesn’t start on the root. No hostility or disrespect meant btw 🤝

If you listen to Bay Area rap from the 90s and a lot of west coast rap from 90s it was almost always out of key on at least a note or two or at least one diminished chord. It does def come from jazz and it also happens in r and b often. It is done on purpose to give a specific feel

@rly Beats I seen a site that showed bpm and scale of some song they are made in and I seen a lot of major scale trap songs...can you do a video making a trap beat in a major scale/ the process of ??

When I try and lay out a 4/4 melody it always comes back as 3/4. I come up with the melody.. tap out my bpm, lay it down and it comes out as 3/4 not 4/4. Why? Is there an explanation to this or is it just me.
