So many of Shinedown's songs have deep meanings to them. Brent Smith wrote a song called Get Up about the bassist Eric Bass who has been dealing with depression for years. They are really nice guys. I have met them a few times.
He wrote it about a friend who was going through a divorce. The friend told him that this was just how he felt through all of it. Great song! Love Brents voice!
Love Shinedown but if I had to pick only a few to say were my favorite I'd say What A Shame, Second Chance, and Call me. Next week I'd probably have a different 3 but they have so many great songs
Hey, I suggested a song and you made a video about it! That's incredible. This is an interesting analysis. I haven't read anything about how the writer viewed it, but my take is that the narrator knows the relationship isn't working and that it's his fault, but he also knows he won't change, so there's nothing he can do but leave. But at the same time, it wasn't all bad and he doesn't want it to end. What you said about subjective interpretation not necessarily matching the original intent makes me think of the song In My Blood by Shawn Mendes. I've read that he intended that song to be about anxiety, but for me it's about chronic pain.
Shinedown is an awesome band, pure musical genius. Check out Jelly Roll. This man puts everything on the table for everyone. He's so brutally honest... he's saved multitudes of people for many a year now. Whether metaphorical connection....You KNOW that You aren't ALONE feeling same feelings, no matter what the cause. Shinedown, Jelly Roll, FFDP, All have wonderful uplifting msgs, but learned at a hard cost. And You FEEL everything. My therapy. Pure Amazing, musical genius. Will Always be Thankful...
