@@nori5640 They aren't. What art is "supposed to" convey and what you feel when consuming the art don't have to be aligned at all. To the point where that "supposed to" part falls away completely and becomes irrelevant. That's known as "death of the author" in literature but it applies to all creative self expression. This means that meaning is born in yourself, not in the art. Hence my line: "meaning needs to be forcibly attached to it, it's never just there " A lot of really good touching music means absolutely nothing.

Spring Bonnie Well, the church doesn’t believe that money is the root of all evil, they believe that greed is sinful. If you drop soap, the floor is dirty and so is the soap. The towel gets dirty because it partially exfoliates the skin and the water that goes on grows bacteria.
