Heavy music like impending doom and for today led me to god. I was a militant satanist/pagan for a long time and I hated god and christ. Now I live my life for god. I still have my problems but I know christ gave everything for me. Thanks for reaching out to us.

i admire how Pastor Bob can still entertain these questions and accusations regarding music (especially heavy metal of course) after ALL THESE YEARS. If other Christians wanna keep hating, i wouldn’t care since they’re already going to heaven. I’d focus on discipling sheep who need it more.

The album "Extraction from Mortality" by Believer changed my life as a teenager. It was the first time I felt "life" in music and probably helped me from harming myself. They even led me to the Sanctuary Help Line. I later discovered other bands like Stryper, Deliverance and others that helped lead to my salvation. So on point Pastor Bob!

Excellent message from Bob.he said all that needed to be said,but I will add a Little bit.2 scriptures come to mind.1st John 4 v.1-3.Test the SPIRITS.Acknowledgers that Jesus has come in the flesh are from GOD.Then theres 1st Cor 9 v.19-23 All things to all People so by all means save some.Actual style of vocals is another pretty trivial Thing to want to argue about.Even IF it can be thought that growling vocals Sound demonic we should test the Spirit behind the lyrics.Also I think to Growl like this can be thought of as actually mocking the devil and his demons when done with Christian lyrics.The devil is LIKE a roaring Lion seeking to devour,1st Peter 1 v.5-8(Okay ,I know,I've gone to 3 scriptures).But the true Lion and the loudest roarer when He Needs to be is the Lion of Judah,Jesus Himself.

I like a Dutch Progressive band called Earth & Fire that used a lot of mythology in their titles & lyrics. Their song "Only time will tell" sounds like a march to hell.

Elavator Music.

I have loved you Bob since the early 90s when I was buying Tourniquet and Deliverance cds but I feel you missed on this one. Even Christians enjoy elements of satanic music. Personally, one of my favorite bands is Deathspell Omega and they are as evil as a band can be. They are deeply invested in philosophical satanism. It is all severely flawed and I see that but others do not. More do not know enough to realize why it is flawed. What i recognize though is that it is articulately constructed lyrically and musically while also being wrong. More relevant to the point I enjoy it. The music of hell wouldn't matter if it was Deathspell or John Denver. Hell is a place of eternal anguish and torment. It is a place without joy. It is eternal separation of any of the blessings of God which even satanic bands quite accidentally capture with their music here on earth while intending to glorify Satan. In hell music might not exist at all but if it does there would be no moments of thinking 'i like that bass figure he is doing' or ' that is a killer riff'. There is no relevance of our appreciation of joy of music here on earth that plays in hell because joy does not exist. It is likely that music would be the least of one's problems in Hell but where it would exist it would only exacerbate your pain. It only remind of the lies you believed. It would only extenuate and make more real that there is a God and you are separated from Him forever as well as separated from any blessing of God that you ever knew when you were living. It would be like hearing your favorite band and for that experience to make you all the more miserable instead of excited, jubilant or satisfied. If people really knew what Hell was they would not wish for even the worst of us to go there. They would not want Hitler, Jeffrey Epstein to be so condemned. Hell is a complete absence of any rest, solace because you are removed from any effect that God has on this earth.
