I love watching you admire Kelly’s vocals. I remember in 2015 they even went on tour with Kelly and she even brought them out to sing her hit song “Heartbeat Song” with her. She’s such a phenomenal star. And I still think it is so cool that you got to talk to her musical director that has been with her since she won idol in 2002, that must have been such an honor. Love your reactions so much!
I know this song from Amy Grant releasing it on her Home for Christmas album in 1992. Kirstin had a broken ankle that Christmas Tour. I always thought they did two takes & spliced them together. 🤷♀️ Kelly’s vocals!! PTX backing her beautifully!! They’re good friends & have toured together.
PTX are wonderful collaborators. They are always warm and admiring and willing to take any role their collaborators offer. Here, Kelly Clarkson gives them a little solo near the end; Dolly Parton gave them an entire verse of Jolene. But other collaborators have wanted them only in the background, so that's what they did.
I remember when they were filming this special here in Vegas (they're in the Eiffel Tower restaurant at the Paris hotel/casino for this number). I passed them when I was heading to work next door at Planet Hollywood, & I felt so bad for Kirstie with her leg! I know they created a custom scooter for her to get around stage for that years holiday performances, but of course they were all amazing anyway! Great reaction!
Kelly and PTX go way back…I think Kelly is a HUGE contributor to PTX’s commercial success. If I’m not mistaken she picked them to tour with her early on…giving them tremendous exposure.
Btw, I just love watching Mitch when they do anything with KC…he can barely conceal his enthusiasm and admiration, smiling and grinning the entire time!
They were already well on their way to success in 2015 when she asked them to open for her. She said she started watching a video of theirs and fell down the Ptx rabbit hole and couldn’t stop watching video after video. Since they’re part of the same label she asked if they could open her tour.
@@PtxXtp I stand corrected on the “early on” part…thnx…but I do think that she gave them tremendous exposure that would otherwise have taken years to develop…
Not Christmas related at all, but her cover of Carrie Underwood’s I Know You Won’t has to be one of the most bone chilling live performances ever! It is literally perfection.
Yeah, definitely not an original but you figured that out yourself :) David Foster wrote it, but the best known versions are by Amy Grant and Kelly. if you want to watch another version with a fun connection to this one... Thank you for the link. I have not seen that video in a long time. Scott sounded great. Less than a year later he was part of a band that won Season 3 of The Sing Off.
