I like your format of just talking over it, rather than the usual reactor vids who pause and then feel they have to prattle on with an overcomplicated diatribe.
I just noticed they quote "Nardis" by Bill Evans at 8:20, doesn't surprise me that Domi studied Evans, she voices chords and uses harmonic progression in a lot of the same ways he did
They're not quoting "Nardis" by Bill Evans; the song was sampled for Raid which was featured in Madvillainy by MF DOOM, whom they were paying tribute to.
@@THIGGEH Bill Evans is my favorite. I bet you're right. The intro song on their album, I could have swore I heard her playing bits a pieces of Symbiosis (1) (Bill Evans & Claus Ogerman) .
I’ve met DOMi and JD Beck after one of their shows in November last year. OMG, their live performance was AMAZING. I ❤ the track called “MOON” ft. Herbie Hancock from their latest album “”NOT TiGHT”. It’s one of the best beautiful music of the 2022 in my opinion. I’m moved each time I listen to the track. I don’t know who these musicians appearing in this video commenting on DOMi and JD are. 😅 I should check them out! Happy weekend to everyone !!
From previous listens, I could catch early-to-mid 70's Chick Corea / RTF influences. But at 08:23 What? A reference to Bill Evans' 1961 piece, 'Nardis'? These kids know EXACTLY what they're doing.
Son dos monstruos insanos, importados del espacio exterior, o se trata de un efecto optico auditivo inexistente e imposible de replicar, producido por alguna inteligencia artificial alienígena. Tengo 54 años y no llegué nunca a escuchar una genialidad tal.
Wow, amazing musicians!! I can't tell what is even going on, but it's crazy to listen to. Thanks for making the vid and putting us on to dope music. I'm definitely going to have to check out more of their stuff!
He does soooooooo much with those few drums. Like seriously, he plays tf out of those drums, whether it calls for it or not. Yes, that's a read, cuz now he's no different than Lauren Hill having to bend each note 20 differnet ways.
For the bass pedals, it reminds us of the church organ, organist back then get to use their feet to play. Now why not a pianist or keyboardist. The bass player is out of a job on this one :)
Ik this is old but you guy DEFINITELY need to sit down and listen to Yussef Dayes. I recommend Yesterday Princess, Love Is The Message, and Welcome to the Hills (the song not the album BUT you can listen to the entire album it’s also fantastic). ALSO listen to Snarky Puppy - Lingus.
what should I do when i listening this shit? Cause it's so crazy & unreal that my brain is beating in contradictions of what emotions to generate. Now I'll go and jump from the fourteenth floor
Cool vid, love the concept. I would put a noise suppressor or a gate to eliminate the ambient room sound. Also would love to hear the music more upfront and more commentary after the song. Possibly edit specific sections you discuss back into the conversation sections of the video, more editing but it'll look pro
For different sounds, they I think were referring to the fact that she was the bassist and keys player all at once throughout which is very uncommon, they are often used at the same time for soundfont effect but rarely throughout a piece
did he listen to Louis Cole to shape his style? Who did Louis Cole listen to? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VOwZ5HzVguM.html which launches into a Buddy Rich solo. What goes around comes around. Beck & Cole carry the flag.
I'll have to look up "click track" - every day's a school day!❤ (It seems, in more recent videos, JD cut the sides and front of his hair a little, so it doesn't fall in his face as much as he's playing. He's got a great head of hair, but if I were him, I would go nuts with all that hair!)
5:20 - so they start with a hip hop beat at a nominal tempo and tune to fit that tempo, then they double up the drums while slowing down the tune and tempo of the same hip hop melody???!!!??? That's just mean. You know what that says? Get tha heck out of my way lil kid! I'm a show u how this is done rightchea!!!! I had to watch it twice before making a comment...#disgusted
Interesting : Most of the Reactions are about technical skills and how things are being done by the two. There are almost no remarks about emotional content or the composition...
Great musicians no question about that, yet.... just like Jazz, after a while it all sounds the same, very intricate, very skillful yet predictable soundscape.
