THE VERY FIRST SONG FROM SKZ AND THEY WERE THIS GOOD ALREADY?? We're done- this is too much.
This is a new series that we are doing over at our newly created patreon page, where we will be reacting to the ENTIRE discography of SKZ in ORDER, starting from their 2017 pre-debut mixtape - and the first song on the list is HELLEVATOR! We absolutely loved this and we're VERY excited for what the album has to offer, as well as to watch the younger (but still very talented) SKZ!

Jyp picked bangchan as the leader then asked bangchan to created his own member group to debut. Jyp said this is their experiment on creating 'self-made' group and allowed them to produce their own songs(which never happened in any other idol group). Probably JYP saw the potential of 3racha in producing song skills and he trusted Chan a lot as the leader (we always called him JYP-son)😂

High notes are on Han, you are right. Also the song is made by boys themselves during their survival show (you can find some parts of making it on air). That was their pre-debut song and Lee Know himself made the dance. Their debut song is District 9)) You will see the 9th member till Laventer, so don’t be surprised… You are right, they are so young and cute here but it’s the best start)) I love Hellevator with all my heart ❤️ P.S. l enjoy your reactions the most and want to be with you on your skz journey but Patreon doesn’t work in my country. 😢 hope you will post a lot on your RU-vid channel as well ❤ Stray Kids world domination! I am a jype stand therefore I watch everything the main channel drops. The day Hellevator mv dropped I watched immediately. I was sold on the spot. Form that moment on I told myself that this group will be HUGE. It was such a bumpy ride for 2+ years. You have no idea how frustrated I was not seeing dear boys’ world domination. Looking back everything they had gone thru was blessing in disguise. They never had anything handed to them being from jype. They gain every Stay fair and square by staying high quality, never give up, and believe in the destiny.

At that time I just started to kpop and Stray Kids already caught my attention and heart with just the Hellevator teaser, what more when I finally watched the full mv when it got released..... and then I finally heard the song, saw their dances skills, amaze by their visual, and fall in love with the information I learned about them, and fell harder when I watched the Survival Show. to answer your questions: 1- yes han was the one singing the high notes, he was the only one capable of hitting the note at the time (most of them can do it now btw). 2- yes that was the 9th member who left, his name is woojin and we don't talk about him here. 3- hellevator was not their debut song, it was a pre-debut release. 4- I think watching the skz survival show would answer all your questions since you guys wanna dive into their discography, the show would be a good start, because it shows how skz create their music. 5- so to explain hellevator, in the survival show their first mission was to create a song from scratch and perform it, so skz made hellevator, and then it was released as a digital single to promote the show, then it was included in the pre-debut mini album "MIXTAPE" that has 7 songs, which are the songs they made on the show. 6- their official debut song is "District 9" and the official debut (mini) album is "I am NOT". 7- and 3RACHA were a rap trio before skz, like they had a album called mixtape released on sound cloud already, even before creating skz, so jyp knew what they were capable of. also, I'll definitely subscribe to the patreon but I'll wait till the start of next month cuz you know how patreon works lol.

Yes, Han was singing, he was the only one in the group at the time that could go that high. During the survival show, JYP criticized Bang Chan for making the song in a female key instead of a male key. Bang Chan took that criticism, but didn't lower it. :) Han kills it. Changin's rap in the beginning is just so good, but he also sings in this (the MV doesn't really show that he did at all) - during the chorus, the last line of "I'm on a Hellevator" is Changbin for each chorus (and he ends the song).

Interestingly, in the survival show, Chan got *lambasted* by JYP for putting Hellevator in a “girl’s key” and he said they couldn’t sing it well. He said they’d have to lower the key, but then in the end they didn’t. And Chan clearly didn’t let this criticism stop him because, well-*gestures at their discography* Also, yes, that was the original 9th member, Woojin. He left between Double Knot & Levanter in October 2019, so they had to mad scramble to record, refilm, replan their tour, etc

Bang Chan actually joined JYPE in 2010, he was just 13 yrs old at the time. He was a trainee for almost 8 years. Han joined in 2014 and Changbin in 2016. During their trainee years, the 3 of them got together and started to make tracks and full songs. They released 3racha songs thru soundcloud and youtube. Chan was given the opportunity to make a team and hopefully debut so he actually picked the members. I think because of their ability to make their own music, releasing Hellevator predebut received so much success that JYPE managed SKZ differently, compared to a typical kpop group. They let them made their own music. Later on, there was a point where JYP himself was kind of nervous I think when he tries to give them his tracks.
@veronamariachudy5732
@veronamariachudy5732 Год назад
Yep. I thought Channie was 14? But didn't JYP say that he decided to let BangChan create the group himself b/c of the advent of social media being such a huge influence in the current culture? He wanted a group that seemed more cohesive & connected to each other as members, which he knew that they could no longer 'manufacture'. All eyes would see it was forced. I wonder if JYPE really understands how lucky they got or do they think it was their 'genius' that orchestrated their popularity?? You're right though! JYP did say he was nervous to send them tracks b/c they might not like them. And when they say they like a song, he sends it right away before they can change their minds.

Yes, Han is singing. He was the only member who could reliably, smoothly hit that C4, and thus was born his forever position as their official cheat-key ace. (And after JYP told them it was too high, they went "Ah, yes, we see, we see, thanks for the feedback, PD-nim"...and then made their debut song, "District 9," higher.) In this song, - five people rap: Changbin, Han, Hyunjin, Felix, Lee Know - four people sing the prechorus: Seungmin, Woojin, Chan, Han (in order, one line each) - five people sing the chorus: Han, I.N, Chan, Woojin, Changbin (in order, one line each) Eight of the nine of them were teenagers when they made this song and vid (everyone except 20-year-old Woojin), ranging from 19 to 16. 3RACHA were 19, 18, and 16/17 (this was right in the middle of the Han/Felix/Seungmin 17th-bday period). All nine of them, including the three (3RACHA) who wrote this, were going through one of the toughest times of their lives and were physically, mentally, emotionally exhausted and scared and desperate. These are _their_ words, describing the hell they were going through at that moment; when JYP heard this song and asked if they felt like what they were experiencing (the survival show, fighting to stay together) was hell, they straight-up said yes.

As legend goes, JYP felt that there was a niche and a desire among young fans to have a self-produced group. Chan had already been a trainee for years, plus been working with 3Racha, so he decided to do SKZ as basically an experiment. He let Chan choose the members (for authenticity) and they had to prove that the line-up was good enough to debut. In reality, we know that there was a trainee that Chan picked (Allen from Cravity) that JYP pulled very late in the process because he wanted to save him for a potential Chinese group, so he didn't have COMPLETE control.

I also want to let you know you should try to pay attention to some of the imagery from the MV's. A lot of it is re-used as part of a story arc that newer fans don't realise is there. For example the City that's in the sky/upside down, the various elevators or the lavender fields, they're just a few of the themes reused to tell a long continuous story.

Amazing video as usual ! Hellevator is their very first official song as stray kids and it's a pre-debut one, their debut song is District 9. In their survival show, in which JYP had to decide to allow the group to debut as bang chan made it (with the 9 members) or not (with less members), they had the mission to create a song (as 3racha were already producing music) but also make the choreo (mainly Lee know) and that's how we got Hellevator. Fun fact : Bang chan got scolded by JYP for putting a note so high in Hellevator and decided to put an even higher one in District 9. As Bang Chan trained for 7 years he truly has an interesting relationship with JYP, which actually led JYP to trust him to make his own group, so I also think this answer your question of if JYP just decided to entrust them, he kinda just did. He said in an interview that he's scared that they will reject his songs and he offers them one.

Been loving your Stray Kids reactions. Always fun to watch other Stays appreciate the amazing discography 3Racha (and other great producers) create. It's wild to go back and see just how Young they all were. And Congrats on the Patreon! And just a heads up: Woojin (the 9th member) is rather persona-non-Grata in Stayville. Officially he left due to personal reasons, but the timing is really sus. They were 2(?) months out from their Levanter comeback and had already started filming MVs (Astronaut) that had to then be re-edited to remove him. It also really broke the morale of the group and a lot of ppl were wondering if they were going to disband. (Hyunjin broke down at a concert and begged stays not to leave them and Chan made vague references about how ppl should keep their promises.) Obviously something happened for him to leave so suddenly right before a comeback. Plus, later on he used SA allegations as a promotion attempt for his own solo work. Super gross. But yeah. So you might get some strong comments about him and wanted to let you know a little context.

Some fun facts about hellevator: the song was created as part of a task for their survival show chan went through his laptop and the songs he’d already made and they decided on this one and made the lyrics, the song is in the female key and was actually criticized by jyp for it being too high, this was the first thing that Lee Know ever rapped on I believe it was Hyunjins part originally and jyp had Lee Know try it after the first review and that stuck, and the mv was shot in an abandoned building that can be seen in a ton of other kpop mvs

I really hope you guys will react to their survival show on your patreon. As well as the kingdom show. So great to see how they got started, and how they create these songs. Hellivator was the first song they created together in the survival show. Pre debut and this is what they come with.
@RM_formerlyjustRMbutYTsucks
You're right that this is predebut and the very first release. It was made and released during and as part of the survival show -- in other words, they were going through hell at this very moment, still fighting to even stay together and all get to debut as a team. (Not long after this was made, Lee Know and Felix were eliminated.) The album it was released on, _Mixtape,_ is entirely composed of songs they wrote and performed as missions/tests during the survival show. Three of those songs (Hellevator, Grrr, and Spread My Wings) have videos. Yayaya doesn't have a video but is a core SKZ song, performed even now as part of all the concerts. 4419 is beloved as an insight into the abandonment Chan felt for years during his trainee days, and is widely understood to be not only to his fellow debuted/dropped trainee friends in general, but especially to roommate Bambam. The only two that are mostly left in the past are Glow and School Life. Both are good, and Glow is used as one of the earliest examples of "Felix isn't just the deep voice," but they're generally considered more like one-offs. But anyway, seven-song predebut album has _three_ videos plus two more deep-level SKZ songs. And that's just the first album. Every album after that gets better, more cohesive, no more "left in the past as one-offs" songs -- and every single song, not just the ones with vids, especially not just the ones with officially titles MVs, should be heard. Phobia, Maze of Memories, Tortoise and the Hare, and dozens upon dozens more of their most iconic, beloved songs don't have vids but absolutely should be skipped. You'll quickly find out that the "a bit more melodical than nowadays" belief is based on misunderstanding from having only heard a tiny fraction of their music, most of it the deliberately harder stuff. That melodic element has always been in a lot of their music and remains right up through the very latest Japanese album; it's just that most people don't look into the b-sides. Even just today, the borderline cringingly delulu video for "There" (the most melodic, floofy, schmoopy song on _The Sound)_ dropped and showed itself to be literally a sequel to the hilariously cringingly delulu video for "Your Eyes" (the most melodic, floofy, schmoopy song on the previous Japanese album). Many, many of their songs are softer or at least non-bangers. The entire Mixtape storyline (completely unrelated the the _Mixtape_ album) consists of more melodic songs.

So if you are reacting on Patreon, you'd be able to react to the original show, Stray Kids, which did have footage of them working on this song and most of the other first songs. It even shows them coming up with the title to this one. I loved seeing the background to their early work. It is of course a survival show and was made for ratings, but it shows some really cool bits of the process behind making, recording, rehearsing and the initial performances of their earliest songs. I think there are parts of it that you guys would really like.

brilliant, amazing, so very glad you're starting this new series! As always, thank you so so much for recording and sharing your reactions. Glad to see you've made a patreon so you can earn a little money for all the time and work it takes to film, edit, and render the videos. Will you be doing a similar series (a "from the beginning" series, if you will) for other artists you react to as well- like Woodz (maybe...even covering his very very beginnings in UNIQ perhaps? lol a girl can dream...)? If you're interested in knowing more about how hellevator was made, the production, writing, and music video process is featured in skz's survival show, called "stray kids." I would be highly interested in seeing your reactions to the survival show on your patreon channel, if you two are into survival shows that is. han is singing a lot of those high notes, although woojin (former member), and even changbin sing a few of them as well. but right from the very beginning, han was equal parts vocals-rap. it's mind boggling to me how polished they seem even during pre-debut. of course they've grown, but plenty of the elements we see them use now were talents and skills they started out with from pre-debut. skz is just bananas, man. while i'm here, i might as well recommend a few super in-depth guides to skz that i would love to see you both react to, if you ever go down that route. These really highlight what I think is very unique and appealing about skz. 4 videos by SavageKingZ, in the following order: - An Advanced Guide to Stray Kids (2022): Teamwork - An in-depth Guide to Danceracha - An in-depth Guide to Vocalracha - An in-depth Guide to 3racha

Hellevator is from when they first started out, so yeah.......they, their music and their production skills have matured a lot in the years since. And yes, Han sings. He's got a great voice. You need to watch these more recent Stray Kids performances (RU-vid won't let me post links, so you'll have to look these up): Stray Kids 'WOLFGANG' KINGDOM Mnet Final Stray Kids 2020 MAMA (Victory Song) (^^^^^^^^ keep watching at the end of the Victory performance, to see Hyunjin dance with dancers from other K-Pop groups.) [2022 MAMA] Stray Kids - Venom + MANIAC (MAMA ver.) | Mnet 221129 방송 Some great videos featuring Hyunjin's dancing: 1) Hyunjin "Play With Fire (Feat. Yacht Money)" (원곡 : Sam Tinnesz) | [Stray Kids : SKZ-PLAYER] 2) [Artist Of The Month] 'Motley Crew' covered by Stray Kids HYUNJIN(현진) | October 2021 (4K) If you want to see more of Han singing, check out this video where he was being interviewed. He sings several times: [Leemujin Service] EP.32 HAN | CASE 143, Alcohol Free, Blue Whale, A Long Dream For a compilation of Stay Kids performances from different concerts / awards shows, check out this video: Stray kids ICONIC performances Lastly.....this is from 5 years ago. Yes they are slaying from day one.. Hellevator is a pre debut song they made when they are in the survival show n JYP told them to make a self produced song n self choreographed song which is choreographed by Lee Know this is how Hellevator was made.. JYP said Stray kids was the experimental group that self produced their song n through SKZ he wanted to see that a self produced group can be successful or not.. Yes Han hit that high note . My boy is ace from the start n the 9th member was Woojin who left skz in 2019 but we don't talk about him anymore.. I hope this info will helpful to u guys n I'm happy that u guys listening SKZ discography from the start.. skz have more than 200 self produced songs with 40 plus different genres in just 4 yrs which is more than some 3rd gen groups... They really work hard from the start I'm so proud of them.. District nine is their debut song

First, finally a patreon!!!! Second going into the skz rabbit hole is a lot but to kinda summarize, yes that’s the ninth member…. He left and it’s best to leave at that, and this is their pre debut song that they produced during their survival show! Han is signing the high notes!!! And also jyp experimented with them by letting Chan pick the member and produce their own songs!! That’s sorda basically it but anyway I can’t wait to watch y’all react to all their songs!! (Also the mv’s all kinda connect but we just can’t figure out how)
