What an amazing description of Bang Chan as Atlas, supporting Stray Kids and minimizing himself. This song is a masterpiece, and depends ENTIRELY on his delivery, which is amazing.
Right? It's gotten so every SKz release, I look for his parts in their bigger tracks. I'm always happy when he gives himself a prehook or chorus because then we get more of him. Case 143 made me so happy in part because he had some decent parts for himself. Don't get me wrong; I LVE how he supports the others and I love all of their parts. I just wish he showcased himself a LITTLE bit more than he does.
I fully agree with that. He is always doing things for his guys and really never for himself, always standing in the back with that grin or smile as he watches his family stand in the spot light.
@@C-Locke just like with not wanting to celebrate his bdays, Chan prefers to stay in the background. His comfort is in others so we just enjoy whatever parts he gives us 😔
This song is so personal for him I remember watching chan’s room when changbin and Han said they wanted to listen to it and as soon the song started his smile dropped and his facial express hurts so much I really love this song its so beautiful
I remember this episode. Changbin and Han were being their usual annoying kids/menaces and harrassing him to listen to it. So it all started very lighthearted, but as thé song progressed they all lost their smiles, and it finished in total silence, and Changbin was on the edge of tears as well. It is a very powerful and impactful emotionnal song.
@@ikasarisetiawati1477I think stays should learn their lesson about speculating on what chan says when he purposefully makes it unclear, that's how we lost chans room in the first place. people speculating and twisting what he does into what they want it to be to fit their own agenda.
He said in it could be about a friend, a loved one or a family member, maybe even about a dream. Like picture a dream as a person, a dream he does not want to give up on.- Chan's room ep 58 around 27 min in.
This song is stripped back and just heartbreakingly beautiful. Channies voice really shines and the way he lets the raw emotions shine through is just ✨chefs kiss✨
Interesting thought: Bang chan's solos have almost all been in English. But this one is both. You know how several of the boys say it's easier for them to speak emotionally in their non-native language? I wonder if it was easier for him to bare his heart in Korean.....
I'm pretty sure you are right cause i do the same thing. This is not my native language and putting what i'm feeling into words in english is much easier than in my native language, it feels less personal like that
I rarely listen to this song bc it's heartbreakingly painful. The first time I heard it, I had to pull over bc I was driving. I sat in the parking lot crying. You can feel the pain behind the lyrics. The hurt. I break down every time I listen to it bc the thought of Chan hurting this way breaks my heart. The person that takes care of everyone else, protects everyone else, but closes himself off from letting others do the same for him. I feel this so very deep inside, and I wish I could take this pain from him. I hope one day Chan can let someone care for him the same way he cares for all of us. I understand how painfully hard it is though. Chan is a beautiful soul that the world doesn't deserve.
You're absolutely right- I think this is the most beautiful showcase of Bang Chan's skills! I am always enraptured any time I hear it, regardless of how many times! From what little I know, the story behind the song (and who it may have been about) has never been revealed and Bang Chan has been pretty close-lipped about even talking about this song, so I definitely think it was very personal! I love that he still decided to share it with us though. Anyways, I loved your reaction and insights and analysis as always! 💙
He only said some things in response to speculation from Stays during Chan's Room. And whatever its about, he'll never tell us. Thats okay..we can all take from this what we want. It feels personal, but so relatable. And there's genius in that too. His vocals are gorgeous, but ever since I first heard his voice I felt he was particularly good in delivery, in conveying deep emotions. This song showcases that in an amazing way. I love it so much and yes, it makes me cry every single time...but thats ok. I love a good cry while listening to good music and this is.
@@katjalovesmusicals4337 I totally agree, the personal yet relatable, it's definitely part of the magic of this song that every Stay can take what they will from it 💕
I am so glad you did this… it is my favourite song from Bang Chan and this as well as Slump & Red Lights are my favourite vocal performances from him. He is an incredible singer, talented artist, genius producer and has an ability to put so much emotion in his tone that I never get tired of listening to him. The atlas description of him was perfect too! Loved the reaction. 😁🖤
I really liked your metaphor about Chan being Atlas it really suits him. This song is gorgeous and really shows off his talents. What really impresses me is how much of the emotions you can hear in his voice it has such a strong impact. Thanks for your reaction
Thank you for this reaction. I’m always happy to see people appreaciate Bangchan’s vocals and those little details he does. He is super talented not just producing and arranging songs, its his voice..his voice is beautiful. His range surprises me everytime..
This is one of the only times he's been truly vulnerable like this. There is a reverence by him for whatever experience or feeling is expressed here, he stripped everything down and had confidence that the emotion would carry the song. It was a gamble and paid off because his delivery was so unrestricted. At the time there were people saying it was about the member who left the group, but chan debunked that, I think. But to me it does feel very personal, as if it's directed towards one specific person, and this is his way of telling that person things that he can't actually say to them. There's actually a clip of him listening to it during a v live, and he's very emotional listening to it, so you can tell it came from a very hurt and deep place.
yes he did debunk it in the livestream where he listened to it with han and changbin, he says that a lot of people think it's about a certain person, but it isn't about him so don't send any hate to him, and that it's up for their interpretation and what they can relate the song to
Yea this is very personal, this song could be anything that has happened in his life. I get it as all the years that he was training and all of the friends that he has made, all the while they leave from the training to go into groups or just leave. We will never know, that is his story we only see glimpse of his life even though he is very open on certain parts of his life. This song is so beautiful, love his voice and how he projects it in this song.
Yeah, that's what bothers me about people's perception of this song. A lot of stays seem to think they know what it's about, but it's such a fan perspective to think it's about "he who shall not be named". Chan has lived a life completely outside of the public eye, but a lot of fans don't stop to consider it could be about anyone, even people we've never heard of or know nothing about, especially because he was a trainee for so long and had so many people around him leave his life.
Bang chan's voice is one of my favourite voice. His voice is beautiful. He delivered so much imotion with his voice . He has most skillful and stable voice. Want more work from him. ❤❤
So much of the emotion, I think, comes from that piano, the one steady headlining note prevailing over everything else wherever there was extra in the background. It sets up the atmosphere so well, like this song is the pleading words of a hurt man from a movie right after the heartbreaking narrative climax. I desperately need people to understand that regardless of if the music is your style or not, the talent is there in spades. I would almost say it's natural-born if I didn't know just how hard he works on everything. There's a reason he is trusted to work on and be listed on basically every SKZ song as arranger/composer.
Chan said it's all depend on listeners to interfere, but we're all know why the song exist, this song is my turning point to decide to be a hardcode skz fan, cuz this man poured his heart out so bravely and moved on, i was so impressed, still so impressed until this day. Man, bang chan is such an admirable being
I couldn't have this song as an alarm cause I would wake up crying every day.. well I guess I do that anyways cause I have to go to work.. so I guess hearing Chan sing would actually make me feel better... okay... I with you..
I absolutely love this song. You can just feel hurt in Christopher's voice and it just makes my heart hurt. There aren't a lot of songs that I can feel like this one. He is amazing.
Thanks for your reaction. I love it that you give the Korean context. It really helps to understand their music and message even better. This song is amazing. Bangchan can put so much emotion into it, which makes it hit so hard. Just awesome.
I love this song so much. It breaks my heart for Channie every time I hear it 🥹😭 I don't know the story behind it, but maybe some older Stays would know?
@J_One_Stay things like it being about WJ, or some long past trainee thing I think. I would have to go look, but I know for sure stays thought it was about WJ and he said no.
I think they were just grasping at straws for a comment about him leaving, and they jumped at this being about him and a betrayal and stuff so they'd have a reason to be upset. A parasocial lack of boundaries.
I love this song, your face reactions, and your different perspectives and opinions on how you feel about this song and how much though was put into it. Thank you for all your insights that you give in your videos! It’s so fun seeing the perspectives from professional song producers!
This song is my most favorite song. It gets played at least two times when it comes around my playlist. His emotion and vocals just get me every time.🫠🩷
This is one of those tracks you really can't listen to casually, it's heartbreaking and beautiful and is filled with the kind of heavy emotions that tear your heart out. It perfectly showcases Chan's skills as a singer, how is voice is both raspy and clear and smooth and, most importantly, how much palpable emotion he puts into his singing.
I remember crying my eyes out the first time I heard this song! Chan is my bias, so I just wondered“who hurt him so badly?!” ‘Cause you can almost feel his pain. Now I play it whenever I wanna cry! 🥲 haha
Loved your reaction, I sincerely hope he watches your channel and sees this. I'm tempted to drop it in Bubble... Thank you so much for appreciating Bang Chan's full abilities ❤
By his own admission, he didn't have the goal of being a celebrity. He just wants to entertain people, make them happy, and share his music; and this allows him to do that. It's a big reason why he "steps back" and lets the others shine more than him. He's already doing what makes him happy and what he loves. ❤❤❤
Tank you so much to put this song ahead. Bang Chan is a so good painter of pain. "Just" with his voice and piano. It's a duet with voice and instrument. And it's sight that wrings one' s heart. Kind of emotion like Deep End. MERCI CHAN.
I totally agreed with you all on this. The moment you point out the piano single note piece, i know you will give a really positive feedback to this. This song is so underrated when in actuality it displays Channie's capability with just a single piano note. Like you know, of course, different notes, different instruments, variety in sounds manipulation is like, yeah SKZ's forte, but here, it shows what he can do with just a single note.
One of my favourite Stray Kids songs! This song is very personal to him and I am very grateful for him to show us this side of him! I hope we get more songs like this from Bang Chan. Apparently this was rumoured and or theorized to be about Woojin. Loved your reaction!!
@@kb_520 thanks for clarification I have not seen the video. Must have missed the chans room or translation. Even if it was about him which it’s not. I don’t think chan would admit it was about him to not have people put hate on him.
@@TheCutestChris18 yeah his claim that is not about Woojin can only be taken at face value as well bc JYPE or the Kpop industry in general would frown upon that being openly admitted, so he just can't do that. Chris himself might not want to openly admit it to be polite as well. But in the same vein to confidently say IT IS about Woojin isn't ok either imo. Like all SKZ songs I'm sure they'd like it to be up to personal interpretation anyway so I just go with that. I have my opinions but I'll just keep them to myself.
I don't know how true is this but according to some theories it was written after Wojin left the group and someone speculated about the idea that he writed it against Wojin
