I once saw these in a nightclub in my local town in yorkshire england. There was only about 50 people in the crowd. He said if he had whiskey the gig would go better so i got him a glass. Great gig.

I actually just found out that this song was much much bigger in Europe than in America. Here it didn’t really get popular until the movie Loser came out and even then that wasn’t a huge movie at the time. So it kind of makes sense that you have such a connection with the song, given that it was everywhere in Europe and Australia and such.

I have heard lots of people saying that music takes them to other times of their lives, times where everything was better, simplier, I don't know how to say it, well whatever that means, it just doesn't apply to me, and don't misunderstand me, I love music, I love playing it, if anything, it transpots me to places that I have never been... You know he wrote that song about satanic cult murders that happend in his home town. It was a teenage kid who killed his parents and some other people to. When the cops arrested him he was wearing an AC/DC tshirt. It sounds like a happy song, but the song about something dark. I guess the same could be said about "Pumped up Kicks".

So after listening to the vice documentary on this song, the satanic cult murder influenced the word ‘dirtbag’ and the “he brings a gun to a school” lyric. Seems like the rest of the song’s meaning is about his personal experience: wanting love, feeling like an outcast/loser, and sticking it to all the haters in his life like his high school teachers, priests, and any authority figure in his life that didn’t encourage him. Not really focusing heavily on the negative aspects, more like sprinkling it in the song

I have never heard this song before. I will admit to you Now... I probably will not have heard 99.5% of the music you will be reacting to, from the 90's - 2019. "What? Were you abandoned in the wilderness all those years?!" Nope. I will tell you all about it in Patreon. I will share this much; My Daughters (pre-teen), were listening to a singer with a voice I had never heard anything like it before. I stopped and looked in their room and I saw this beautiful young Lady singing with a voice that I was having a hard time processing because she did not look like that voice should come from her... Yes. It was Diana Ankudinova. That is the day I started listening to, some, music again. My Daughters and I went down the Rabbit Holes of Vocal Sensations of today. None of them are from any english speaking Country. For the past 4 months we are listening to people from the US now, as well, All Rap style Artists... Tom Macdonald & others. I think it was Brendan himself who did the "Bag~" high note part not the girls. Brendan can still hit the high notes the same even after 20 years Voll krass :)
