Surat (Gujurat), Aug 27 (ANI): The preparations for one of the grand festivals of India, ‘Ganesha Chaturthi’, are in full swing. People in Gujarat and Maharashtra make special arrangements to welcome their beloved lord Ganesha in their homes and societies. They keep idols of Lord Ganesha at their homes and set up a stage in their colonies to enshrine the large idol of Ganesha before immersing it into a nearby water body after ten or eleven days of continuous worship. Behind some of these beautiful Ganesh idols, is the dexterity possessed by a Muslim youth, Iqbal Qureshi from Surat who has been working overtime to shape up the perfect idols for the festival. Qureshi’s interest in this work peaked at a small age and now it has been almost two decades that he has been doing it. Iqbal does not find much difference between various faiths practiced in India. For this young artisan, work has become his worship. Blessed with immense talent, Iqbal has made a mark above all communal hatred and violence. Just like him, his customers too never care about the religious differences and thus start making a beeline in his shop, a few days before Ganesh Chaturthi. Iqbal says when his customers worship the idols bought from him, he feels as if he is worshipping the God. Thus his devotion towards his work and his respect for the beliefs of other religion make him an exemplar of communal harmony.
