Thank you for touring us around Golden Masjid. I’m ex Roman Catholic reverted to Islam when I learned that Muslims Worship One ☝️ God Alone. They believe all the angels created by God, they believe all the prophets and messengers sent by God, they believe all the the holy scriptures and revelations sent by God to all his prophets and messengers, they believe the Day of Judgement and they believe the Al QADR (Divine Predestination). But I never had chance to visit the Golden Masjid in Quiapo. May Allah (God Almighty) guide you to the right path always and Jazakh Allah khayr (May Allah reward you with goodness). Ameen

Generally Muslim are kind and loving people, got a lot of friend and they’re funny with great sense of humor. Just like anywhere, there are bad Muslim and bad Christian. Let’s not put a categorization on race and religion, we are all Filipinos.

I'm a muslim Meranaw living here in Metro Manila. Remember there are also other muslim tribes in Mindanao aside from Meranaw and have their own foods too. It might have a slight difference but in general they can be also be categorized as bangsamoro foods. Also our randang food was influenced by the Malaysians or Indonesians as our cultures are mostly influenced by them due to the fact that Malays traders first came before spanish and Bangsamoro people have never been colonized or defeated by spanish, americans and japanese. 🙂 This is the reason also why most of us don't recognized ourselves as Filipino and we prefer the term Bangsamoro people. Anyway, just a little bit of history. 🙂

The Filipino Muslims lived in Manila are the Malays called Bangsamoro. They come from predominantly Muslim Mindanao and Sulu Islands in Southern Phillipines. They have been living in Manila, the Phillipines, since Manyla Kingdom ( name of Malay Kingdom ) about 600 years. The Maranao people speak Tausug, Old Malay, Tagalog, English as well as Arabic. The Culture of Malay muslims of the Phillipines is similar to Malay culture of Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Southern Thailand, and Indonesia e.i. cuisine.

Visited Muslim town 3 times.Also stayed at the hotel at this place.I am from Malaysia.

Golden Mosque must be organise as to those who lived behind the mosque must be provide for them housing by the government. So the beauty of the mosque will be back to its original and lots of tourists Muslims from around the world would enjoy and appreciate and enjoy their visits.

One day insha Allah I ll must visit Philippines because I love Philippine country

As a Muslim who loves the Philippines, I definitely plan to visit there one day. I’m currently fasting for Ramadan and my mouth was watering watching you eat the delicious food haha. Also, do you happen to know what the community language is? I’m guessing Tagalog, or have they maintained their language from Mindanao where they originated from.

Muslims in Philippines are unique. most eat pork, they celebrate Christmas, very few wears hijab, they drink and they only pray when needed. very nice people 👍

My First thing to do whenever I arrived Manila, I will always go to Quiapo, by MRT.. stop at Carriedo then walk, visit the Golden Mosque and do some light shopping there 😍😁

I grew up in Manila in Sampaloc but never ventured near to Golden Mosque in Quiapo. There is always mistrust between Christian and Muslim due to education and the culture of Regionalism. Very enlightening to show us the other face of Quiapo. I miss ur informative vlogs.

I don’t think they used food coloring for the purple or black rice. They just can’t explain more about the ingredients. I came from Mindanao Cebuana revert muslimah, I know they had natural/organic black, red and purple in their farm. Me and my husband loves their delicacies. 😋

Food coloring for the black rice kakanin!! It should have been made of a black rice variety! Maybe it was very cheap. Black sticky rice is much more expensive than white. That purple palitaw sphere is very strange to me. The usual one is a white, flat oval sprinked with shredded coconut, toasted sesame seeds and white sugar. The color of the palitaw is probably ube flavor which also has color.

Duh, make me hungry haha.... Maybe next time i need to know how is the price... Greetings from Jawa Indonesia.

This encouraged me to visit the place. I only visit the vicinity of Quiapo Church and not the Muslim community.

I can't believe that Quiapo became a center of Islamic community in Manila considering The Church of the Black Nazarene has been the iconic Catholic church in the area with a huge festival observed every January. And the mosque was initiated by Imelda Marcos? Wonders never cease!

My friends were laughing on my reaction to my first taste of palapa. My mouth was burning not even shots of water were able to put it down. But when I got used to it, meal is not a meal without palapa.

Why it is black? - Because the natural color of glutinous rice that they use is a dark purple color or black. These is 2 colors of glutinous rice: white & dark purple. 😊 By the way I'm Iranun tribe from Mindanao belong to the Bangsamoro People or Filipino muslim tribes. Stay safe sir! Nice blog! 😊
