There are also free apps for white noise that you could use! Another MUST HAVE: a Baby Backup Bag that just stays in the car. Wipes, diapers and outfits in ascending sizes, and any other essentials you would be lost without (blanket for winter, burp rags and extra mom shirt if baby spits up a lot, etc.). Mine has saved me SO. MANY. TIMES.

The Sleep n' plays with the snaps are great if you have a NICU baby or a baby with medical issues. They do have a place. My lo was born at 31 weeks and was on a bunch of different monitors in the NICU and ended up coming home with an apnea monitor. Made it super easy so he could wear clothes and the wires would just come out in-between the snaps.

Ali doll, I agree. I didn’t mind the snaps, especially before baby was mobile. I found the zippered bunched weird and when baby was reclined, the zipper made the front of her sleeper bump up in front of her face. I only liked the zippered ones from like 6 months and beyond.

The Happiest Baby Sleepea has a zipper on the bottom for diaper changes in the middle of the night, and also has buttons on the shoulders so you can let your baby’s arms out.

I have the rocker in the upper left at 9:53 and feel attacked 😂 I really don’t like neutral colors for baby items, be it clothes, accessories, what have you. They seem bland and “instagrammy” rather than fun. I guess it all comes down to a matter of different tastes! Might I also add, my girl ran/runs super hot and sweats through regular swaddles, so I used the Woombie true air summer swaddle even in winter and she slept SO well. It’s completely vented and she kept to a great temp. So if any moms think swaddles aren’t for their kid because they’re in a warmer climate or their kiddo is a space heater I totally recommend checking it out. First night in it she slept for 8 hrs. Now that she can role she’s in a convertible one (unbuttons to let arms out) and loves it still.

I think it is *incredibly important* to point out that many pediatricians advise against “sleep aids” like the DockaTot because they can be dangerous for small babies, for any type of sleep, but especially if used for overnight sleeping. Please do the research for safe sleeping when making the decision for what to use for your baby - it could make a difference for his/her life! 😞
@ang_131
@ang_131 4 года назад
Laila K, I came to the comments to say the same. A baby can end up with their face pressed into the corner of the dock-a-tot and suffocate because they’re too small to move when they have trouble breathing. Safe sleep is super important and your baby should be in their own bed (crib or bassinet or floor bed) on a firm mattress with a tightly fitted sheet without toys, blankets, or pillows. Crib bumpers are a no-no.

Came to say the same! Dock-a-tots, snuggle me, boppys etc are very unsafe! Infants have died using them and the tags on dock-a-tots have a warning saying not to use them for sleep.

@issabee7743

Mine was rough the first time,too. Second baby was much smoother all the way around. I found pelvic floor exercises helped a ton, but I also had a wonderful physical therapist to help me. (She specialized in pelvic floor and birth prep/recovery.) If you're using bottles, I absolutely love MALM bottles. They're easy to take apart to clean, designed to help reduce gas and colic, and you can steam clean in the microwave, so they're great for travel. The only thing is I haven't found them in a tiny baby size, nipples wise.

We agree on a lot!! We got our swing for $25 at once upon a child. My son loved it!! I couldn’t see myself spending so much money on something he might hate. My son also loved swaddles. But he kept breaking out until we switched to the love to dream. For the next baby we will try the Ollie swaddle. And sound machine is absolutely a must! We used the travel one clipped to the bassinet for the first 3 months

I love our nose frida! I gift it or recommend it to all my new mom friends. My husband thinks it’s disgusting and refuses to do it, but I agree, it’s oddly satisfying. And my baby’s ear, nose, and throat doctor recommended it when he was having bad congestion. Also, totally agree about the tacky prints for rocks and other cheaper items. It’s the worst for the ones for boys

I went for a cheap baby rocker too. I looked for something comfy for my newborn. Some great tips: 1. look on how dip is the seating area as that will make baby sink, and 2. Look for loads of patterns on the rocking chair and toys they can actually reach when starting to make more movements. This is for new parents 😃👍🏻

I will say the only positive thing I found with the snap sleepers was that when my daughter was at the hospital after I had her she had to have fluid lines in and the zipper sleepers were kinda useless because it would be half on half unzipped. Whereas the snap sleepers I could just feed the line through a hole or gap in the snaps. Other then that my husband hated the snap because they are a pain.

God, Miles is sooo cute! I also liked the white noise box, sleep and play pajamas, and the sleep lounger that I made myself (my one year old still sleeps in it). Baby rocker didnt work for us because he would get fussy really fast in it. We liked laying him on his back better. Also I liked the wrap scarf ten times better than baby carrier 😊

Swaddles: I loved these so much for my babies! Especially if you (like me) suck at doing it with a blanket. Also good if you have hand/mobility issues. Also: Yes to car seat covers! We had one with a stretchy, thin fabric to stretch over the seat (handle hole at top), I loved it. We also had a heavier one that clipped to the handle (not as great). If you're using the kind that clip and don't stretch over, sew a ribbon to the bottom so you attach it to the bottom of the car seat so it doesn't flap into baby's face. Boo to buttons! I do not want to fuss with those at 2 am. For baby rockers: If you're crafty, or have crafty friends, they may be able to make a rocker cover for you in a nice fabric.

Congrats! If you plan on breastfeeding or pumping, talk to your insurance about a breast pump. There's usually one or two options that are completely covered, though accessories and bottles aren't. (This is no judgement on any feeding style.) We ended up investing in two more sets of bottles, plus milk bags for the freezer. Honestly, zip lock bags work better than milk freezer bags. They're just as good for freezing, and far easier to dump into. Get baby's sleeping zone set up, especially if you have pets, so they're used to it. (We had to train our cats to stay out of the crib.) And be prepared with a few different sizes of baby clothes. Newborn size only goes up to about seven pounds. Past that you want 0-3 months. My must haves were lanolin (for sore or cracked nipples) and a great hand lotion (my MIL got me Mother's Friend and it's wonderful and also smelled oddly like my grandma). Also a sleep mask. That whole "sleep when the baby sleeps" is a great idea, but if you're light sensitive this helps a ton. It is also especially useful in the hospital where there's always some kind of light. Pack easy to slip on slippers or warm socks with grip bottoms for the hospital (those floors are cold!). I also invested in a good heating pad to help with back aches from bending over to change diapers, and a kneeling pad for bath time. Second time around we also had our sons name clearly printed out ahead of time so paperwork would be easier for anyone filling it out. We also had a birth plan, with the understanding that it might not go to plan because stuff happens. But it helped lay the groundwork for decisions that we wanted to make, and let my husband and mom advocate for me and baby when I was too tired or out of it to do so. One of my most important postpartum must haves was my care team, though. I love my OBGYN, and he recommended a physical therapist that specializes in pelvic floor and birth recovery. The difference between my first baby and my second was astonishing in terms of recovery time. And don't worry about bothering the doctor if you're anxious or think you or baby should be seen! Trust me, they'd much rather have you anxious in their office over nothing than anxious at home. You can also ask to speak to a nurse over the phone to see if you need to come in. Most insurance companies also have a help line with nurses or lactation consultants. K, going to shut up now and stop overwhelming the mom to be with information. Wishing you a healthy baby!

I have an even better recommendation when it comes to the changing pad liners. Don't use a fabric changing pad and forget about the liners and the covers for it. We used a silicone changing pad and it's still going strong at 22 months. We have the skiphopp gray one and have really liked it and there's also the peanut one which is esthetically my favorite but more expensive as well as others. My son peed on it, we got poop smeared on it from blowouts and it's still going strong and free of any odor or stains. We would just desinfect it with a baby safe desinfectante and we were ready to change the next diaper. Thanks for all the suggestions though, I have to agree on most product categories. We loved the ergobaby carrier best after extensive research, the model we have is the Omni 360 mesh to keep it cooler for baby and for us. I also love the Solly baby soft wraps. One thing I regret not getting is a baby file for my son's nails but I have the baby Frida nail clipper and honestly we love it. I do want to get the hatch light and sound machine but we use a Google home mini for the white noise part so it's not an essential right now. We have used a Fisher Price simpler consept of the hatch but I hate the projections in the light feature.

Love this! We typically recommend against swaddling with hands down against sides and prefer swaddling with arms bent in and up towards the face :) this allows baby to move things away from their face if needed! Great products! ❤️

Consider Love to Dream Swaddle Up sleep sack. I ended up getting two of them after my son was born!

Yea...I saw that and felt like that could be a potential suffocation hazard. I am against swaddling clothing while you child is sleeping when YOU are sleeping...while mom or dad is awake is one thing.

My son came home on oxygen as well as a feeding tube on his belly. The button-up ones are the only ones we can wear for now. He has 3 wires attached here & there for monitors. 👍
