Worf WAS a married man...

Klingon culture and traditions are not the same as humans, and Worf was in a cultural bind with his family's place in Klingon history already.

But that's not why he was mad. He didn't want to put his Discommendation on his son's life. In another moment in his life he would've been thrilled to have a son. But Worf would never want to bring a Klingon child into this world already dishonored for something he had nothing to do with. He also knows that K'Ehleyr doesn't give the slightest fuck about his dishonor or that tradition. That also irks him to no end, since while he loves her too, he loves Klingon tradition as since he grew up on Earth, tradition is all that really connects him his Klingon heritage. She knows every bit how honorable and good he is, and knows his discommendation is bull shit.

@@Spiritof_76 but they both have standards for what it means to be a responsible parent and person. She CHOSE not to tell him when communicating across galaxies takes less effort than to fart, and then decides to make him feel like crap because she blindsided him AFTER declining his sincere desire to marry her. She is a well made character and she tried to find the truth to save Worf’s honor and save the Empire but she is a mercurial jerk more often than anyone would like to admit.

@@Aku9466 Complex characters and scenarios are what make shows interesting. Worf probably had more outside pressures affecting his decisions than any other character in the Star Trek universe. Too many alien characters in later series were just earthlings with forehead make-up. At least the Klingons, Vulcans, and Ferengi had alternative cultural motivations.

@@Spiritof_76 but my critique is of her behavior, not how well the character was made. She was made very well (and I’d argue that a number of the later characters that are human with weird heads are good BECAUSE they are people rather than just someone wearing make up) but the character herself made bad and usually selfish choices. We only had her for 2 episodes but in them she chose to ignore his feelings in two very significant ways.

He was actually like 1 or 2. Klingons grow much faster than humans. Alexander will be full grown, old enough to join the Klingon Military at about 13 Earth Years.

I agree with you BIG time! I consider what the writers did with her, her demise specifically, a disgrace to her character AND the Enterprise! The ship’s computer should have notified the Captain AND Sick Bay of the trauma in her suite!

@@Leadeshipcoach Every old character they've brought back in the Picard series - especially Picard himself - has been diminished, tarnished, vandalized. Trek has replaced too many talented writers with too many agenda writers.

@@pwnmeisterage To be fair, they cost less, and Star trek under it's current owners cannot use the same themes and atmosphere of the old shows, that's why it's gone gritty and feels less like the old Star Trek.

I suspect Wolf felt that he was not able to do as good a job of it himself at that time in his life. The primary responsibility of the parent is to ensure that the wellbeing of the child is taken care of, which is not necessarily the same as raising the child themselves.

She knows about Klingon "honour"--unlike Worf, she's been enmeshed within it her entire life. Worf has a romantic view of it because he didn't actually grow up within it. Whereas K'Ehlyr observes later in this clip, "honour" is just an excuse Klingons use to grab for power and influence.

How would that have worked? She died in this episode.

She’s one of the most charismatic and interesting characters on the show, I always remember the little lean she does on the turbolift door when he leaves.

Probably her passive aggressive way of saying “Don’t presume you are the only man I know” But even she couldn’t play coy for long because she straight up tells him later in that scene.

@@davidsloat1016 Very upsetting how men are separated from their parenthood with all this secreting of conception and such, women wanting all the control. IMO comes from “scarlet letter syndrome” that’s placed onto amorous women to this day. Problem is, women get pregnant so we do bear the brunt of the responsibility. Point blank. Though we persist in blaming men for being detached from their natural fatherhood. Can’t have it both ways. Mixed up and unfair. That being said, insist on DNA and let the actual truth be revealed.

Having children out of wedlock doesn't appear to my eyes to have anywhere near the stigma it used to have. In some cases, it seems like "I want the child, but I don't want the biological father in my life" is now a valid lifestyle choice. Then again, I'm male, so I'm on the outside looking in as it were.

@@davidsloat1016 Yep, unfortunately, still seems like stealing from men, like men and women can do without one another when we can’t. BIOLOGICALLY set up that way. Same sex couples still need the opposite sex to create. Also, for us women it’s more like an unconscious thing (guilty about being just as amorous as a man, not virtuous and immaculate-whore/Madonna-deep religious indoctrination even if not religious- morality comes into play) than conscious.
