Yes! Mostly true! We need to update this 😢. Although last week my card went thru at the official rate a couple times. Last week the cash blue dollar rate is around 390. Credit cards are getting 333. And Western Union is giving 362, so still might be better than using a card although you could be on the hook if inflation strikes and you withdrew a lot. I’ll keep an eye on the relative rates and we’ll see what happens
Yes! I hope this helps! A news article just came out that the card readers will be able to read foreign cards and give 290pesos to 1USD but it is not working yet. Hopefully we’re here when they figure it out so we can update you!
I didn’t even have to do Western Union. The hotel reception area has currency exchange which is very reasonable. I only do $100/day exchange. Hotels did 290 per dollar. Western Union charges fees I also carry small currency $ because some stores will take it.
Hi I feel I need to fill up your comment slot. In the Nevada Las Vegas desert we have our first 50+ mph wind storm Saturday and Sunday. Last winter seemed like one continuous wind storm and I was hoping the storms would be absent this year.
Hi, any idea what the new update is ? I was thinking of getting a Western Union pre paid card and loaded there after sending a transfer. What do you think ? Hate the idea of traveling with lots of cash
That is available for people who want to bring down cash - of course! But for long term travel, bringing down $10,000USD for 6 months would be dangerous
@@the.vandersons how much cash do you recommend for someone looking to stay for 3-4 weeks? Also what’s better taxi or Cabify from EZE to your destination downtown?
im going to Argentina in January. I am going to take gifts and a new iphone for a friend of mine that lives there. Will i experience any issues with that?
You could. They have a lot of import taxes. You should remove things from their packaging and make it seem like you’ll leave the country with them after
Visa pays the blue dollar rate. Mastercard doesn't. We're almost finished with my two-week holiday in Argentina: BA, Ushuaia, El Calafate, and back to BA. We were informed by our tour guide for the Recoleta Cemetary that Visa pays the blue dollar rate. We had to pay by card to enter the Recoleta Cemetary as they don't accept cash. I used my Visa card and discovered that I was only charged GBP 4.74 entrance fee to the Recoleta Cemetery. I then started to use my Visa card and discovered that I was getting an exchange rate of AR$340 to 1 US$. Which is not too different from the current blue rate of AR$380 to 1 US$. We found lots of vegan restaurants and most other restaurants have at least a vegetarian option. We did not starve during our Argentine holiday!
