I used to read a lot of YA, but I find that now that I’m 26, I haven’t been enjoying YA books as much as I used to... maybe you could make a video about your favorite adult books? :)
Have just started reading A House Of Salt And Sorrow and I’m loving it. I’m not even that far into it and I totally get the horror/creepy vibe that you’re talking about
My fall recommendation is the book I just finished today, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. It’s like Pride & Prejudice but way darker and set during the industrial revolution and it’s just so so good. I listened to the audiobook (audible original) and it was AMAZING and also the BBC adaptation (on Netflix) is BRILLIANT. I can’t recommend it enough. Mr Thornton is a great love interest.
More for my TBR list - Regan is my source to buy and read books! She has excellent taste in books. I personally only take time for 4 stars plus because time is short!!
I live in Australia so it’s coming into summer, but once my university semester ends I’m looking forward to finally finishing the Chaos Walking trilogy!!
I've heard about A Curse So Dark and Lonely A LOT on booktube but your the only booktuber that successfully made it sound intriguing! It may just be moving up on my tbr 🌟💙
On a vacation whim i read 'a curse as...' not really expecting to like it but solely trusting your opinion and i absolutely loved it! You came to be my absolute favorite booktuber and i almost follow your recs blindly :) keep doing you! Waiting for a sunday vid now :)
Haa the fall reading season, the most wonderful time of the year ! It's honestly when I come alive lol. I'm currently reading the Near Witch by V.E Schwab and it has all of the spooky ambiance I was hoping for, definitely puts me in the mood ! It's also pretty interesting to read the debut novel of a well-known author and see how her writing evolved
I'm presently reading Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, and Alchemyst by Michael Scott. I have all six of Michael Scott's books and two of Elizabeth's. Great stories, both of them.
Loved these recommendations! I just looked up the Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy and I'm sure you already knew but there's a new book coming out next year according to Goodreads 😊 Love the blazer and t-shirt combo! x
I need to read the second in a girl of fire and thorns and quickly buy the third because it's getting super hard to find it in French... As for autumn read, I think whyborn and griffon by Jordan L.Hawk is perfect.... an historical mysteries with some creatures from legends of ancient times and a MxM .... I loved everybit of this
Hi Regan, so...I read The Cruel Prince and honestly hated it. Do you think i’d like A Curse So Dark and Lonely. I know they’re two entirely different stories but I’m sorta curious.
I read A Girl of Fire and Thorns over the summer. I wanted to love it but... didn’t.🤷♀️ A Curse So Dark and Lonely is pretty good though. And City of Stairs is now on my TBR.😊
Are there any good steampunk-esque books that you guys know of that aren't super cheesy? I've been trying to find something like this but everything that I find is always really bad. I don't exactly mean steampunk, but almost like 1930's London. Sorry if that's hard to explain
I had a really hard time getting into the book and had to try three separate times but about a third through the book it gets great and after that the it's all amazing till the end of the series
Girl of fire and thorns ended up being one of my favorites last year. But as a whole, I think I preferred Carson's other trilogy. As always, thanks for the recs!
Hey Regan, you mentioned previously that the Deathless Girls was one of your most anticipated books for fall, did you get a chance to check it out yet?
Uprooted (Naomi Novik) - Adult fantasy in a Russian setting with hilarious characters and a sentient wood Cruel Beauty (Rosamund Hodge) - Beauty and the Beast retelling in an Anicent Greek inspired world, YA (a bit confusing in the end, but very enjoyable) The Priory of the Orange Tree (Samantha Shannon) - High fantasy with dragons, a f/f romance and rich worldbuilding (so I've been told, haven't read it myself) The Rook (Daniel O'Malley) - also Adult and more modern fantasy, tells the story of a woman who wakes up surrounded by dead bodies with no memories of her life up until that point The Darkest Part of the Forest (Holly Black) - YA, also takes place in our world, in a sleepy little town plagued by faeries, features a horned prince Carry On (Rainbow Rowell) - heavily inspired/influenced by Harry Potter, but becomes its own thing after a few chapters. Also m/m romance and has technically a sequel, but can be read as a standalone To Kill a Kingdom (Alexandra Christo) - YA, protagonist is a siren set on eating the heart of a prince-turned-pirate
@@julietsalvatore13 thank you so much! They all sound amazing. I'll check them out for sure. I've actually ordered The Priory of the Orange Tree. I've also just started The Binding.
I was so disappointed when I found out „A Curse So Dark And Lonely“ is meant to be a series! So be aware and don‘t expect a complete retelling of „The Beauty And The Beast“. I only found out when I finished it.
marionh69 I’ve read an ARC of the sequel and the sequel doesn’t carry on the retelling. It doesn’t follow Rhen and Harper (mostly Grey and a new character) and deals with the political fallout from all the lying Rhen and Harper did in the first one. It doesn’t drag out the Rhen/Harper romance or the Beauty & the Beast retelling aspect!
I know this is really nit picky but you don’t need to say why when you say hence cause hence implies causation and negates the need for why. This is my biggest pet peeve 😂😂😂
