I agree with you about the Boss 302, not so the 429, they were rated at 375, and overrated at that. Back in the day they were a laughing stock. Once modified, ran very well, but didn’t hold together. They were decent looking, that’s it.

@@Staytuned405 I was street racing a new 1969 Yenko Camaro back in those days, unfortunately over time the reputation of the Boss 429 has been severely embossed. They were nice looking cars, and little more. Time has a way of warping some people’s memories, I raced the two we had locally, to be honest , the Boss 302 cars were much quicker, and afforded a better race. But neither lives up to the reputations they’ve developed over time. The Yenko was no world beater either, I’ve owned 2 of them, the first brand new in 1969, the other a few years ago, that I restored. In 1970, I traded the Yenko on a 1970 SS Chevelle I ordered, it was an LS-6 454 with a 4 speed, and 4:10 rear, now that was a fast car, out of the box, I would say the fastest new car I ever owned. I built some years later that were faster, but that Chevelle was quite a car.

@@Staytuned405 You’re welcome, they were all nice cars, I loved them all, and still do, but the stories have gotten out of control, if you were racing back then like I was, you needed to know the competition, and I did. If you had the money, and you wanted a truly fast street car back then, you went to Long Island, to Baldwin Motion, and had them build you a street machine. They are still fast even by today’s standards. The new muscle will beat them, stock against stock, but modify them and I think the worm would still turn. Make it a drivers race, and I’m positive.
