I remember my dad took me walleye fishing and I caught a 7lb walleye and I was so happy bc it was my first fish I caught on a lure and was the biggest I’ve ever caught!
That’s my go to way to do it, I wait till night when the walleye are in shallow. Pitch a blade bait up against a bridge piling or other solid structure, they love to pin those baitfish up against whatever they can. I’ll always go out at sunset after bass fishing and think there has maybe been one time I haven’t caught one, smallest has been 21” we got some studs in Lake Ontario.
What part of Canada are you fishing. I'm Northern Ontario, and the walleye bite is starting.... I've pulled a 7 and 9 lber out of the body of water I live on. Thanks for the tips !🤟 Tight lines
Is this a lake or river setting? We have a hard time in the big rivers like Detroit and st Clair pitching the jig from the boat. How ever works well from shore we actually catch more from shore them in the boat. But that's not to say shore fishing is better then in a boat.
Weighted hook with with soft plastic lure, or jigheads like a domo jig with split tail minnow. People also add stinger hooks to their jig hook to increase chances of hooking up a fish.
