First IAS officer from Gorkha community, Mr. L B Pariyar was from kalimpong. Mr. Trilok Dewan (IAS) former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh ,is from Darjeeling. Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla (IFS) ,current foreign secretary of India/ former ambassador of India to United States , is from Darjeeling. There are many more examples...it would be inappropriate to say there are no civil servants from Darjeeling hills .
