In 17 months and 17,000 miles of owning my GT (non-PE), the only maintenance costs were the tire rotation and wiper blade replacement. Oh, and I did change the cabin air filter just because. No in-shop recalls yet, but I'm waiting for parts to schedule the High-Voltage Battery Junction Box replacement. (I did get stuck with the stop sale order for a week or two in July 2022, just after you got yours, before the software update was done and I could take delivery). Thanks!

Me too, although I did have an orange wrench light pop up on my driver's screen, and the notice to service car soon. So, I took it to my dealer who analyzed it from what I assume was my Ford.pass data. They did not need to even look at the car. They have already ordered the parts and will call me when the come in. I am still able to use the car daily, but I am not doing any road trips that would require DC fast charging or repeated full throttle launches. To be perfectly honest, this car is so fast that doing a lot of full throttle launches will probably land me in court with a big fine. I've only fast charged it once as I needed to.

Ive recently learned that the Mach E has cells that can be replaced instead of the whole battery. Now thats a money saver, and a better system. I think maybe by gen 2 or gen 3 things will be even better. Still not a fan of calling a mustang but oh well

I'm secretly hoping by the time batteries need replaced there's a replacement version that has more energy density for less cost than the original and can be retrofitted. Probably wishful thinking, but we'll see.

My GT is a month older than your car, and I’m also in the PNW. It’s been a great car so far. I’ve driven it over mountain passes on packed snow at -17C temps, and the car is very surefooted on slippery surfaces (as long as the low ground clearance isn’t an issue. Stick to packed surfaces). In typical winter temps around 4C, range drops from about 260-ish miles in warmer weather to 240-ish. I park the car inside a heated garage, and I precondition the cabin and heated seats on my 240V L2 charger when I need the most range, otherwise I don’t bother. The car is very well insulated, so it doesn’t take much power to stay toasty once warmed up, despite not having a heat pump. The resistive heat is very immediate at pushing hot air, and the heated seats get almost uncomfortably hot at max power.

Thanks for sharing your experience so far! Glad to hear it's working well for you. What mileage are you at now? Do you use different tires in the winter?
@isaacfortner

Just rolled over 16k miles. Nope, just use the Continental performance all-seasons that come with the GT (non-performance pack). The GT has wider wheels than the Premium.

Good point. For the recalls it makes sense. The customer satisfaction programs that are fixed exclusively with software it feels unnecessary to have a mailer, but maybe we will see some rules change as cars/technology continues to evolve.

I have a 2013 HEMI Charger - my maintenance costs include oil, filters and I change tires every 4 - 5 years or so. So your experience over a mere 18 months is not very impressive.
@studzstudios
@studzstudios 5 месяцев назад
Nice, love the Charger. I hope the next 18 months is a little smoother. I had a Mustang GT Coupe prior this for 8 years and most years were very simple with oil changes only, but there were a few other issues along the way. Maybe I'll make a video about maintenance for that car at some point...

Ford wanted to show commitment to EVs so they put the F150 and Mustang badges on them to alley fears that they were just making some soon to die EV.

Let’s see. My Mach-E has driven 15k miles, and had one very small rear hatch leak (like a couple drops after a torrential downpour) which was fixed under warranty and hasn’t come back. All recalls have been fixed with over-the-air updates, just like a phone. It doesn’t squeak or rattle like a Tesla, and insurance is a quarter what my brother pays on his Tesla Model Y. Ford is far from the worst EV manufacturer. They’ve been selling EVs since 2011 (Focus EV), so it’s not like they’re brand new to the concept.

There's a few kinks to work out, but generally my Mach-E has been very reliable and I haven't had any major issues like mentioned in the video.

@studzstudios
@studzstudios 6 месяцев назад
I think it will really depend on charging in your area, both availability and cost. The Mach-E should be very efficient for taxi-type driving with stop and go due to the regenerative braking. But, the Corolla vehicle is cheaper and should get decent gas mileage.
@852cobain
@852cobain 6 месяцев назад
Maybe it would be better to get rid of the car while you still get some money out of it - Ford is going to stop making them, because nobody is buying them anymore.
@studzstudios
@studzstudios 5 месяцев назад
It does seem like supply finally caught up with demand from a mix of Ford expanding their manufacturing and also the car market in general. Ford isn't giving up on EV's though, I think they'll have quite the lineup for 2025 and I suspect they'll do a refresh of the Mach-E.
@charlescourtney4412
@charlescourtney4412 5 месяцев назад
@studzstudios My understanding is that Ford actually sold more Mach-Es in 2023 than in previous years, but they made far too many extra Mach-Es that year, hence there are now enough surplus cars for a year's worth of sales. Love my 2021 California Route 1, and it just keeps getting better and better with all the over the air updates. Anxiously awaiting the ability to charge on the Tesla network as the CCS charging situation here in Florida is abysmal -- too few chargers per station, almost always at least one charger per station not working, and often all chargers have been derated to 50 kw.

It amazes me how deluded people are today. I have had six vehicles in my life so far. A couple new and the rest second hand. I have never had a recall on any of them. Apart from basic maintenance I have never had a problem with any of them. They are all ICE's. All of these issues with EV's is NOT ok. What we have is a generation of gullible clueless idiots.
@isaacfortner
@isaacfortner 7 месяцев назад
I find that a little hard to believe, given the scope of recalls like Takata airbags, which impacted millions of cars across many different brands and decades of model years. Buying a car used may not get you registered for recall alerts, or the car might have had recalls earlier in its life prior to you owning it. I’ve had 9 cars spanning 6 brands from the US, Japan, and Germany. The cars have been manuals, automatics, ICE, EV, FWD, RWD, and AWD. The EVs (a Leaf and Mach-E) by far and away have required the least amount of service of any of the cars, with my Miata being the least maintenance-heavy of the ICE vehicles (but the oil filters are a huge PITA to reach). The Leaf has only needed a new set of tires in 55k miles, and in 15k miles the Mach-E had a very minor seal leak in the rear hatch that was fixed under warranty in a day. I will also say that Ford has done a really great job pushing lots of updates to the Mach-E. It worked fine when I bought it, but it’s had lots of new features added, and small quality of life tweaks that continue to make it better and better. I wasn’t expecting that, but have been pleasantly surprised. The Mach-E is a new car, and as with any new car, there will be some bugs. The existence of bugs is less important to me than how quickly and painlessly Ford responds to them, and so far, they’ve done a great job. I also appreciate Ford continually improves it with updates when they easily could have left it in the state I bought it in.

It is the second-best EV on the market after the Tesla. I remember when people complained about ECUs on ICE cars in the 70's. EVs are the future; burning fuel to move a piston to turn a crank is inefficient compared to turning a rotor using a rotating magnetic field.
