This video is about different master cylinder choices for 79-93 and 94-04 mustangs. The emphasis is upgrading fox (79-93) mustangs to 5 lug w/ larger brakes and also rear disc.
'84-86 SVO - (SAE Threads) 1 1/8" bore. Integrated aluminum reservoir unit. No low fluid sensor. This is the same as the 84-90 Lincoln Mark 7. The difference is usually the SVO is aluminum, and the Lincoln can be a cast iron unit. The aluminum is what you want to keep the weight down. SVO used 73mm caliper and disc brakes.
'85 Towncar - (SAE Threads) 1" bore. Integrated aluminum reservoir. No low fluid sensor.
'79-'86 GT/LX (SAE Threads) 7/8" bore. Integrated reservoir. No low fluid sensor. Front Iron calipers have single 60mm bore.
'83-'86 GT/LX (SAE Threads) 21mm bore. Integrated reservoir. No low fluid sensor. Front Iron calipers have single 60mm bore.
'87-'93 GT/LX - (Metric Threads) 21mm bore. Removable reservoir. Low fluid sensor. 3 Port (bottom port goes directly to left front). Front Iron calipers have single 60mm bore.
'93 Cobra - (Metric Threads) 1.00" bore. Removable reservoir. Low fluid sensor. Front Iron calipers have single 60mm bore.
'94-'95 GT/V6 - (Metric Threads) 1 1/16" bore (1.050" actually measured). Removable reservoir. Low fluid sensor. Front Iron calipers have single 60mm bore.
'94-'98 V6 - (Metric Threads) 1 1/16" bore, Removable reservoir. Low fluid sensor. Front Iron calipers have single 60mm bore.
'94-95 Cobra - (Metric Threads) 15/16" bore. Removable reservoir. Low fluid sensor. Ports are reversed thread sizes from 87-95 LX/V6/GT. Front Aluminum PBR Cobra caliper has twin 38mm pistons.
'99-'04 V6 - (metric threads) 1.000" and 1.006" bore. Removable reservoir. Low fluid sensor. Front Aluminum PBR caliper has twin 45mm pistons (same as GT).
96+ V8 Units - These are hydroboosted and the mounted flange is vertically not horizontal as required for a vacuum booster. They will NOT work
Larger bore = harder pedal feel
Smaller bore = sofer pedal feel
