The 4th video of this series! Subscribe to know when I upload the next one :) I'm hoping to upload often, but we'll see! This is my mare for the 2020 Player's Choice, tag #4885. Facebook/Instagram: @vanfleetmustangs
Hey Sam, glad you got to your destination safe and sound with your mustangs. It was nice meeting you, especially after watching some of your videos. I wasn't prepared to hear myself in this one. I didn't realize you were shooting when I walked up. Didn't mean to interrupt! Best of luck on your Makeover training.
She's such a beautiful mare, I mean they're all gorgeous but she does stand out. Lilac would be a cute name to match her halter, then again I've named my young colt War so can I be trusted hahah.
💜🦄💜 Girl! Where ya been lately? I miss your videos. I have to tell you, I’ve ridden/trained/competed on, horses my entire life...30+ years...and I pull 95% of my mustang gentling and training skills from your videos. It amazes me that you’re as young as you are, have only been in the horse world for a few years, and have the abilities that you have! You are a true example of a horsewoman...born with your talents and “feels” for the trade. You are truly blessed, as are the mustangs you adopt and train. I just recently adopted my 2nd mustang, after training and adopting out my first. I found myself kinda “stuck” in some areas with my 1st, so I started searching RU-vid for tips...that’s when I found you and your videos. I’m so glad I did, bc being a horsewoman myself and understanding what I’m seeing when I watch you, I’m like, “ok! So that’s how you do it!” You’re amazing sis, keep up the great work!! 💜🦄💜
Katherine Richards I wish I could adopt one but I live in Scotland and I’m Spanish so every summer I go there for 2 months and I wouldn’t have anyone to take care of my horse :(
Congrats on your girl! And thanks for stating all those facts about mustangs. My mustangs love being domesticated horses. They had to round up from my filly’s herd which is unusual but they had to because they were all starving. She’s literally the best filly ever, that herd is amazing
While they were working on the pen... Sam: I know theres work to do but look at the horse. Also it looks like you got lucky, the mustang that you got has really good body language. She is scared but she's droping her head and trying to figure things out and reaching with her head and neck. Witch is what you want from a mustang.
Such a good little mare. She seemed to handle herself quite calmly here too despite a stressful situation. I loved this one from the beginning for her calm and curious demeanor, glad to see it is shown here too. Will be interesting to see how she transforms once she's no longer stressed.
I would love to see a video on how you travel so far with your horses. I see your trip here was 17+ hours. Would love to see the details that go into it. I also have to say THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK! And thank you even more for sharing it! It’s really helped in my research of what to expect when I can finally bring home my own mustang.
I think you’re doing amazing work .. I’m glad you aren’t letting the haters just be jerks ... keep on the GREAT work. If I wasn’t such a newbie In The equestrian world, I would do this too. I’m just not a superwoman like you. ROCK ON SAM VANFLEET. Really proud of you!
I love her Sam. So excited to watch her development. I met a friend of yours at the Liberty, KY sale but I can't remember her name. Love your channel Sam. Keep up the great work
I grew up in a state with Wild Horses. Thank you so much for the explanation of this program. It is so helpful for them! Thanks for what you are doing! - 10:20 Your mare really has a sweet face! She's a pretty girl. I can't wait to see what you do with her! ♥️
Love what you are doing. Keep up the good work. I’ve always wanted horse since I was little. Hope fully one day I would love to adopt one of my own and have place a place to keep. I think all of them are beautiful.
Sam, you are an intelligent lady and great spokesperson for this cause. I fear though you will not make any headway convincing those anti-mustang management people... they don't want reason, they are convinced they are right. It's a belief...can't reason with belief. But keep doing what you are doing, I like following you. You should get a logo on some T-shirts or some merch! Keep those videos coming, I plan to stop out to Paul's Valley myself when I get home this summer and am considering getting a mustang or two myself.
I wish you all were in VT... I so want a little mustang from you! Just something about them makes me so happy and yours are so well trained and behaved!
Congratulations! When you are in MA are you gentling Mustangs? I missed the reply email from the person in CT near me seeing it a week later. I was excited she said yes and replied with all the times I could observe but perhaps it was too late. I'll try again and when the timing is right it will work out. I am enjoying my veeery tame Natural Horsemanship Class horse Zak. Very easy to catch in the pasture but we are going to do it for my sake to practice doing that with other horses around. Thank you for the video and encouragement. I still have the names of trainers in my area you gave me. Have a great night! Laural
Good on you for adding that disclaimer. People spend too much time thinking with their heart and not with their mind. The work you guys are doing is 10x better than much easier options for herd management of a species with pretty much no natural predators. The folks making nasty remarks clearly have never seen "Barn cat syndrome" Or seen disease spread through a population of whatever critter. The reason we have the natural resources we have today is with actual management. The other option is get rid of the people to make more space for them....
Hi Sam. Wondering if you have ever taken one of the Mustangs back to where they were rounded up for a ride on their "home turf"? Keep up the great work! Very informative. And Merry Christmas!!
When I first saw them gathering the wild horses I thought it was mean, but I'm one that must know WHY things are done so I watched a video and it all became clear.. I believe it was in Australia that they had horses thin, starving and dieing at waterholes.. Australia does shoot them, so gathering them here and controlling birth rates seems much more humanitarian than killing them.. I just love your abilities to work with horses. You make it look so easy, which its definitely not!! Keep up the great work..
These horses must be the cream of the crop, ( look wise) our local wild horses look wild. Long mainland tails. Thick neck look more like miniature draft horses. These look more refined. But you folks paid a decent amount for them and the black went for a crazy 6000+ great job to everyone who willing to take on training a mustang in general. More power to you girl!!
Just out of curiosity, when and if you pull into a rest area. Do you ever take the horse for a poop walk? Sorry, my mind is really messed up. I think of weird stuff.
She’s gorgeous🤗 I’m so excited to see what she’s like now, and in the future! Also, how long will you be staying in Texas before heading back home? Hope all your travels and training go smoothly🤞🏻 😉😊❤️
Taylor- Really?! ... I thought it involved a lot of work and responsibility owning a horse. But hey if you say they don't poop or eat or move, it sounds easier, so that is a different story. - (.......!)
@@Itslex56 lmao yall are both being childish. RU-vid doesn't load the exact same time for everyone so for the one girl she might have been the first one (one her phone) and you might be the first one on your phone. Does it rlly matter who is here first or second or even last? No it doesn't it's litterally so childish to worry and fight about who is here first.
@@Itslex56 and please show me where you pointed out the time frames.... bc I've reread your comment 3 times now and don't see a single thing on how each other's phones loaded differently or anything of thay sort.
Robert Thaxton Oh shoot 🤦♀️ I just realized I didn’t. I’ll put that in the next video. But to answer your last question, watch my other Player’s Choice videos to see how I decided
Okay I've got to ask. I can definitely tell they are a smaller horse but are they Hardy enough to carry a full grown man? I can definitely see that they are put together very well and are a small muscular horse. I was just wondering
I understand what you were saying at 4:00 I just feel like sometimes they keep mustangs for a couple years instead of releasing them. But i do really understand what you are saying I just feel like it's unnecessary to take ad many mustangs as they do like why cant they relocate them somewhere else if they are worried about them running out of food? I love your videos and i look up to you. You inspire me to be brave! I hope I didn't misunderstand anything💖 Love you and your horses💖💖💖💖😍
horses are unfortunately not native to north america and are an invasive species, they have barely any predators in north america and they just should not have ever been allowed to become wild in the first place, theyre a completely domesticated species and the more of them we can remove from the wild and put into forever homes the absolute better. there are way too many of them and they reproduce too fast for the environment to keep up with, regardless of where they are. if we captured horses and just released them in different places wed literally worsen the problem, bc then we'd have the same problem happen in multiple locations at the same time, they dont just stop breeding
They’re an invasive species. There’s no room to relocate the horses, the area where they are allowed is already overrun, so the BLM is doing a good job with all the programs they have. If they were to not take as many as they do now, those would probably starve to death due to the lack of food, as well as taking in the amount they do isn’t bad. They have the proper space and care for them, so why is it a concern? I kind of get what you’re saying, but the BLM is doing what’s best for the horses well being, and although you may like the horses being free, they’re invasive as well as they’re starving and dying.
