Incredibly fresh firmware.. Thanks for doing this tutorial, it is like if i had ableton Beat repeat into one of the best eurorack module around. Cannot understand those 2 thumbs down 😓

Yeah it’s super fun! Thanks for watching, hope to hear some shredding beats soon!

I'm happy you took the effort to make this video. My only lament is, save the frequency feedback mode at the end, the audio was pretty much the same throughout. I can't say I really appreciate the range of achievable effects (e.g. the reordering the position of the slices is referenced, but no real audio examples of how smooth, clean or precise that would sound in practice).
@voltagecontrollab
@voltagecontrollab 7 лет назад
Anarchosyn the differences are subtle but they are there. it took me a number of experiments to notice what are minute differences from parameter to parameter and setting to setting.

why aren't pitch and loop size modulation bipolar controls? seems weird not to be able to raise the pitch or self modulate downwards

hello, nice tuto again ! i've jst one question: is it possible to add this alternative mode on a "clouds" which already have "parasite" installed on it ?
@overand
@overand 4 года назад
You would have to replace Parasites with this firmware. The SuperCell & Tyhoon modules (not monsoon) have both firmware functions,, but they also have a more powerful processor which enables that.

Did you ever make a video focusing on Spectral Clouds mode? I looked but didn't find it. Thanks for this one tho!

Is there firmware thet has all the parasites modes plus this "Beat repeat"one?

Having listened a while now to Qubits data bender, it made me wonder if the bad quality sample was lo-fi already (no offense 😅), or if it was due to the quality settings? I can see that extended clouds users can benefit greatly being able to CV the probability, divider, pitch mod and feedback, making this mod much more interesting.

Hey, I am also looking at Data Bender as my first entry into Modular/Eurorack and now discovered this... Do you have experience with both? Which are the advantages & disadvantages of both? I am looking into making my music more glitchy :)

@R1P4 I haven’t any personal experience with Data Bender unfortunately, but I still have Clouds. Sofar I’ve seen a lot of vids on Data Bender, and I imagine my comment was from that time. So in other words, I cannot really tell you of any downsides or advantages between the two. So far I would say that Data Bender sounds cleaner and the interface - being designed for (specific) defects - has a better design in ergonomical sense. Clouds is - whatever firmware - more experimental. Seeing you are starting with a modular setup I’d personally advise a Clouds (preferably a redesign with multiple firmwares on board such as Microcell or Typhoon) as it has so much more to offer, certainly on the long run.

question - does installing this alternative firmware remove Cloud's original functionality? Or can I access both?
@voltagecontrollab
@voltagecontrollab 7 лет назад
For the most part, yes. The Spectral Processor mode is replaced with a new altered version, but the granular functionality and the other 2 modes are intact. Here's some info... www.kammerl.de/audio/clouds/

Hmm this or scooper anybody?
@mattzog

Scooper is a great effect, but a shit module. Mine fails continually and Roldand support is useless. They tell me there's nothing wrong with it. Don't get a Scooper. Mine failed at a live show one time. Totally unreliable. The Kammerl firmware is neat, but I'm still figuring it out. It's not as quick and easy as the Scooper when it actually worked.

nah i own both, scooper is much higher audio quality and way more versatile. mine never failed so far, besides that custom patches often load with audio from the left channel only, which annoys me, but other then that its a great module. clouds is a great module but very lo fi and unpredictible, also the custom firmwares are fun to play with but not really controllable. V/Oct also is completely off every few weeks.
