Those road signs in the beginning made me really happy. If you didn't know, the game is based on a tabletop RPG from Sweden, with a lot of Swedish influences. The road signs look just like what we have here, so I hope they keep at it with more references. A ton of games are made in Sweden, but barely any of them are actually set here. It's just nice to see.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a game that I will definitely pick up when it releases on December 4th. As a fan X-Com Enemy Unknown, this one is right up my alley. Thanks for the great work as always Karak. I really appreciate it!
Looks gorgeous! But hope the gameplay can stand up to it's great looks! This is a great time for Turn Based gaming! And Wow this is by Funcom?!! No wonder the music is so good. Glad they are back doing single player games! I actually applied for Funcom long ago.
It's not directly developed by Funcom, but they're publishing/funding it I believe. Also Funcom is now financially successful (for better - with better title releases, and for worse - rng boxes and cash shop in Secret World).
this combo of open world design with on the fly xcom combat looks amazing, sure hope if there's an XCOM3 they take notes from this game in terms of fluidity with the gameplay and visuals.

If you need a good game to get into the genre I highly recommend Xcom 2 its pretty fantastic and before it I was never really into strategy games either

I'm playing hard west for my switch which is like a wild west version of this... First time I played one of these but this game looks great.... it's coming to switch in a week or so I think so this is now defo on my list also! Great review
he hit the nail on the head with what he said in the beginning and its why i dont like most of the strategy games or like valkyria chronicles for example, its always level by level and the story in between are like visual novels, always wanted to have a nice explore like break in between and to actually go through the world and see the characters interact and talk, this seems more like what i would enjoy...just doing level after level and fight after fight is repetitive and boring to me, its like u done one u did them all type affair and never understood the hype...but when u got those nice break ups like divinity original sin style or something just makes it more special/immersive
mel b yeah...mostly agree. Games like FF Tactics, Fire Emblem series, and this are likely best on handhelds. I enjoy these games, but the lack of action after a while wears on me. I’m a big RPG fan but have come over to the action-based RPG side now that I’m used to it. Going back to turn-based seems an odd choice at this point when we are capable of so much more.
As long as this game is chock-full of extremely well animated and voiced cutscenes with a cohesive narrative which is lengthy I am super excited for it because the premise and the world and the characters I've seen so far have me extremely intrigued
I loved the stalking and killing off some enemies that are on their own without setting off the others (saw in another youtube clip). That was huge selling point for me
I watched a developer video on this awhile back, and it definitely looks like it was made with love and passion for the medium. I'm not big into turn-based games, but this looks pretty damn good.
This is looking really good, I think it is going on my to buy list. I am so hanging out for Draksider 3, a game that we all thought would never happen and then suddenly it pop up on the future title list. The last half of the year titles is going to be great
Thanks for doing a video on this, Karak. It caught my eye early this year, but there is very little info available. I'll be completing DOS 2 soon and picking this up when it releases. RDR2 is just going to have to keep waiting.
One thing that really bugs me about this game is that the Spacebar is used for a plethora of actions. I hate when i for example speed up the enemy turn with space to then missclick space when it instantly transitions to my turn which in turn moves my character to a disadvantageous position. I've had to reload so many hours because of this one mechanic.
Hey karak can I ask a question? The gameplay you show seems similar to valkyrie chronicles which in my opinion is the best rts game and the only one I really like is it similar to that gameplay wise?
Isometric realtime moving RPG with TurnBase combat... It Sound like Japan RPG, but...! It looks like XCom actually! I already like it! If they do not fu*k up it, I will buy it!
Do you happen to know if there is only one type of setting/environment: i.e. the dark forest setting? Or are there different "maps" and areas like in Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle? Thanks!

So, when the team is discovered by the enemy, are *all* the fighters' locations known to the enemy? Can one of the team members be concealed and surprise the enemy?
