9/10 I was kinda meandering with the characters, proud the actors wanted to show depth and breadth(paul Rudd how dare u do anything but comedy and marvel)(MUTE???, that forces other actors to be better on scene, bravo) but I had given up until the bridge scene. BRAVO

This was the movie I was waiting for from Duncan Jones! After being amazed by Source Code I was wondering what his next passion project would be and read something about him wanting to make a movie set in the same universe as his other great movie, "Moon". I'd be a little surprised if Sam Rockwell's character from "Moon" wasn't referenced in the movie.

So many comments get this wrong. Mute does not mean Deaf. Only the lead character is mute, meaning that the trailer with sound is perfectly fine as the character can hear everyone else, but no one can hear the character.

I loved this movie. It’s up there with some great movies like Drive, Nightcrawler, Taxi Driver, Blade Runner 2049. A mystery thriller, with a protagonist with a physical disability that can amplify the actors actions, set in a cyberpunk setting? With Paul Rudd? I cannot believe this movie doesn’t get more recognition. I loved Mute. Honestly wish I found it sooner.

Netflix you should consider your marketing strategies. The movie will be out in less than a month and we only got a few stills until today. People who don't check movie sites every day will not be informed about this movie or not be hyped about it. The same with Mudbound, To the Bone, What Happened to Monday, Alias Grace (great series) etc. I hope you will release stills and trailers for the movie Hold the Dark earlier than you did with Mute because this movie is surely going to be amazing and your marketing should not be pushing it into the unknown.

E Rock Exactly it drives me nuts they don't mind promoting the hell out of the crown & stranger things but everything else is out for themselves. It's why Marco Polo & the get down got cancelled I mean I know tons of people that loved both but didn't even know season 2 was out for them you can't rely on the recently added & new releases most of the time it shows old Netflix stuff

I don't see the point of the same marketing strategies like movies that come to theaters. The movie will be available on Netflix forever, no need to promote it prior to release since it won't be taken down from Netflix like regular movies get taken down from cinemas. This is a different service with different marketing strategies.

The new Netflix Original movie "MUTE" was fantastic. Directed by Duncan Jones (David Bowie's son) who also did Warcraft, Source Code and Moon delivered an amazing dystopian film. He manages to capture that Blade Runner-esque, cyper-punk aesthetic by taking grimey Berlin and transforming it into a believable futuristic city. The story was dark and very dreamy and the main character was solid throughout the entire film. The movie is bold and has an unexpected plot and I enjoy seeing new film makers trying out new things. I would give this film a solid 7.2/10 (IMDB score). It's worth watching.

Just watched it on Netflix and I loved it. Unusual, strange, beautiful, futuristic, compelling and mindbending all at once. Good performances and direction by Duncan Jones as this is a movie that deserves a look no matter what the reviewers say. This is another time where the reviewers are wrong and/or you just have to see if you like it for yourself by watching it.

Moon is an all-time favourite of mine so obviously and this is a strong contender for my most anticipated film of the year (what with it being a spiritual sequel with Sam Rockwell returning.) However, I wouldn't know it was being made if I didn't follow Duncan Jones on social media. Didn't know anything about Netflix having the rights until he announced it out of nowhere a few weeks ago. I'm pleased if Netflix allowed Jones the chance to make the film he wanted to given that he has two fantastic film under his belt (don't particularly like Warcraft, as much as Jones tweets show he does have a passion for that film.) Not especially thrilled that I probably won't get to see this on the big screen (I got to see a fantastic 35 MM screening of Moon last year) but I'm just pleased that Jones gets to make another film. (despite the complete lack of promotion.)

BluRayMan12 Do you live in the UK? If so there will be some screenings at the Curzon Cinema chain from 23rd February's for two weeks. Netflix has a deal with Curzon to screen their films. I haven't Moon for a while I am definitely going to rewatch it before Mute comes out. I really hope that Sam Rockwell does make an appearance as well.

Unfortunately the nearest one is a good eight hours drive away from me. I have however been to one of the few cities outside London that has one over the last two Christmases and seen a film there both times. They are actually VERY nice cinemas. I did notice they were screaming Bright during week of Netflix release over last Christmas which really made me think they must have a deal in place like the one you mentioned.

QuanticChaos1000 Showed it to my girlfriend the other day, she initially didn't want to watch it, wasn't interested but I convinced here. She sobbed the entire way through it, she's never been like that over a movie before. She said it was the best film she's ever seen.

I realised until later that this was done by the same director as Moon, I never would have guessed. Unlike Moon, the movie is really badly written, with a weird pacing, pointless scenes, unrelatable characters and forgettable acting. They even managed to make future Berlin look uncharacteristic and generic like the same stock cyberpunk city you see in every anime / videogame / movie and THAT is really something.
