@@mhopi9744 Happy New Year Mhopi! My parents were both teachers too. My dad then got a job kuHarare...that's how we moved from Mutoko. So I actually have little recollection of rural life as I was a toddler when we left. But ndokune rukuvhute rwangu and our burial grounds. I kinda feel sad I missed out on a lot by not living there full time.

@@mhopi9744 Thanks Mhopi. We still have land and a garden pahomestead but it's kinda small. We get a small harvest each year yechibage. We are considering getting more land elsewhere, hope we realise this in 2023. All the best to you too!

....Just a play of the letters in Mutoko

People of Mutoko once Conquered Japan and built a Great city called Mutoko but local Japanese could not pronounce it properly and called it Tokyo, hence when they were finally vanquished they carried the name back to Mutoko

When Zimbabwe was still Rhodesia Harare and other towns were heavily industrialised, so a lot of people/workers from this place/area, as most of them would travel back home most Fridays for the weekend by buses, so the frenzy from these mostly weekly paid workers would be happy and encouraging one another to go home Friday night usually drinking on the bus (Farai Uzumba Bus Service most likely) in those days, kuenda kwa Mutoko netara hence Mutoko name rhymed with the Japanese Tokyo hence Mutoko started to be called Tokyo.... The Tarred road to Malawi was still a new phenomenon in that area in those days... Same applies to Masvingo ne Tara although the town of Masvingo was still called Fort Victoria... Masvingo guys would boast of a home town were one would travel only on tarred road from Harare. Those were the days! Mutoko netara would later be called ku Tokyo ne Carpet!😄
