Thank you so much! I dare say Bartók would be happy to learn that his goal of understanding and appreciation between our neighbouring peoples got that bit closer. Love returned warmly!
@@thomasrealdance I am the 2nd generation product of a Romanian-Hungarian love story but I live in South-Western Romania. Reality is much more chill than some people make it to be,the large majority of us Romanians want to deepen even further the relationship we have with Hungary and Poland...I mean the Russian bear is right next door so my message for all the Hungarian people is to hug us and accept us as family because we're really not the villains of your worst nightmares!
Surely the point of this musicand the Danubia Orchestra is to highlight all of the rich music that comes from the Eastern European countries whose lands are lapped by the Danube!? The ordinary people without high ranking friends of Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and the other Eastern European lands have been through Purgatory following the World Wars and Communism and need to unite their musical cultures and languages as much as possible for they are each wonderful lands!
Greetings from a Hungarian, Romanian neighbors. Put aside the political nonsense, and just enjoy the culture, and the traditions we share. Beautifully presented piece. Bartók was in love with Folklore, so as I.
Read the biographies of both Bartok and Kodaly, they collected Folktunes in the countries of: Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia, and to Turkish and Arabic countries. The largest collection ever made from that area.
The expressions of sheer joy on the musicians faces and also on the conductor's is so nice to watch as well as listening to this piece. I love Bartok. I listen to this every week and it always lifts the spirit. Magic.
This is so beautiful and the orchestra plays with such spirit and sensitivity. Never forget the music is the thing not whether is one country or another. This from a Brit living in South Africa.
I had played many times...and exactly because of the musical motive "csardas" in it, that's why this music doing nothing with Romanian folklore...that's an old Hungarian dance
@@gabriellatakacs250 Gabriella, if you think Bartok was wrong when he called this songs Romanian Folk dances you have the most stupid idea and you think you are smarter than Bartok
This piece of art right here, is something to be promoted instead the bloody racism between the Romanians and Hungarians. Our both nations went through a lot of bad history, such as communism, we are 2 countries left behind evolution wise. Our problem shouldn't be ourselves but the idiotic politicians that are making us go through some hard times. I am both Romanian and Hungarian, and I hate when I hear the two sides fighting against each other. Respect Bartok for his effort and this lovely piece of art!!!
what racism? it it wasn';t for the odd hungarian irredentism and distain for ALL of their neighbours we would live happily ever after,as people did for many centuries(as seen from the ethnic map..people that hate each other as you say do not live side by side)
I can't wait to watch one of these performances live before my time to leave this Earth. Even though I totally do a different type of music, this is brilliant. One of my favorite quotes from Béla Bartók was "Competition is for horses, not artistes." ♥️ Thank you for this amazing work of art.
Vidím krajinu Tanssylvánských Alp, zapadlé horské vísky, s kouzelnou lidovou architekturou, kde se čas skutečně zastavil. Nevnímám rozdíly - Maďaři/Rumuni - je to všechno jeden oblouk Bartókovy hudby, ze stejného podhoubí národních písní, které mají krásné oba národy. Dokázal do toho skloubit jak zadumanost odlehlých údolí a horských masivů, tak taneční styl lidí, kteří se po těžké práci uměli veselit a nacházet krásné všední malé radosti. Poslední část to je rej - kdo už ho dnes opravdu zažil? Děkuji za nahrávku, miluji Bartóka. Ve všech podobách. Zdravím z Česka - oblasti kolem Rakovníka.
1:55 Dear fluteman, if you happen to read this, which I honestly doubt, you are A FUCKING GOD !!!!. Anybody here would be uncapable of pulling out any sound from this piece of shi** regular stick. Incredible !
I will try and tell him, when I meet him... His name is Péter Éri. His band, Muzsikás runs music and dance sessions for kids and families in Budapest - on every Tuesday for more than 50 years.
maybe you had lived in your other live in romania, you was romanian..this is traditional romanin music singing by them, on this violon..but you need to listen the original of this songs with different instruments too....when i hear this version for me sounds very english but in the same time i can hear the romanin sound obsviolsy...but is a bit too english for my taste but is wonderful , very beautiful i cannot deny
Beautiful song! We Hungarians are accepting of the music of our neighbors. I wish we could see a Romanian band that was as open to Hungarian folk music as it was open for approx. 100 years ago Béla Bartók! Unfortunately, I don't know of any Romanian musicians who have ever played Hungarian folk music.
You can find them, especially from Transilvania. Including folk music, or re-intepretations in different styles. I personally enjoy the band Dirty Shirt: check out Nem Loptam, for example.
Wonderful. Being from Transylvania, this made me cry. It reminded me of the music of Efta Botoca, Alexandru Titrus or Dumitru Farcas. Bela Bartok really captured the soul of this music and this orchestra expressed it wonderfully. It shows that true music sees no borders. Thank you!
Gabriella Takacs Transylvania was part of Hungary, but this was just a geographic mark, the traditions are much older than that, they are about the local culture. Bartok had hungarian citizenship, but he named this piece Romanian Danses and I think that was for a reason.

The beauty of this piece always brings tears to my eyes even though I'm not Romanian or Hungarian. Bulgarian female choirs' performances are capable of making me very emotional too.
I actually shed tears the first time I heard the fourth movement. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be somber, but it's very beautiful. Loved the ensemble in the fifth and sixth movements, and an amazing rendition overall.
Salute, deep respect and warm greetings from Bulgaria to Hungarian music genius of Bela Bartok and to the Romanian folklore! Salute with fireworks and three cheers!
Bre, Bartok a fost culegator de folclor. Bartok nu e roman, nu e ungur, Bartok e parte si la noi si la ei, sa fie clar! Acu', ce fac baietii astia de la Danubia - jos palaria! Sint prea beat si mi-e lene s-o scriu in engleza, bine ca pot scrie inca in romana!

Amazing! I'm gonna performing this whole piece with my youth orchestra next month so I'm still learning it. TBH at first I don't really understand this composition because, well, it's Bartok, that classically speaking, is not so tonal. And after watching this marvelous interpretation, now I (hopefully) know the spirit behind this. So thank you for this video, it's a valuable lesson! Wish us luck!
Immer wieder, wenn ich diese Aufnahme höre, fantastisch!! Ich liebe auch diesen jungen dirigenten, der alles ruhig, liebevoll und mit Begeisterung Zusammenhalt und leitet. Bravo, vielen Dank
7:23 It's so nice to see how the classical orchestra conductor is amazed by the excellent "folk musicians" -- only goes to show that music is a universal language!

This composition always surprise me..I always need to listen to it. It's just great! Romanians should be proud that their soul is so greatly played by so many great artists in the world and hungarians should be proud that a hungarian managed to arrange these folk songs into a masterpiece that is respected by every great artist in this world. It's a place in World Culture which was earned by these two great nations because their greatest minds that they offered to the world!

Gracias!!!! Mil gracias!!! Soy Ana Carol.. The third movement for piccolo is my chair test for CYSO (Colorado Youth Symphony) except I play flute. I suspect this will be a future CYSO performance piece... maybe. By the way I am only 13 years of age ;)
