Magnificent video. I loved the respect that you all showed for the birds as well as the sport. I was struck at the end where you all paid respect to the birds, and then were given a bird after shaking hands. Hunters, the real ones, know that respect and love for nature is integral to the survival of this great pastime, and conservation.
Pure hunting heritage there. Though I am Canadian and hunt with a bolt action rifle or pump action shotgun I’d love to try hunting with flintlocks looks like it takes you back to a simpler more pure time in hunting.
I am also a Canadian. I hunt with flintlocks and also percussion depending on the weather. Be careful, you may be hooked on black powder after the very first shot. I was, and could care less if I ever shot a deer with a modern rifle or a turkey with a modern shotgun. Just another thought here, flintlocks will be the last gun that Justin Trudeau will ban.
Absolutely fantastic, thank you for this. Living among people who've been taught to fear firearms and hunting in general, and some who wish to abolish hunting because they can't see past the local grocery store meat aisle, I thank you for the respect and credibility of your work here on RU-vid. Each video is a joy to watch.
The fun fact is that this meat who they buy in the grocery store came from a bird who was not free. Alteast these bird live their life and they are free. At the end, yes they die. But they lived a life way better then those birds in cage
These guys are also traditional hunters. The way it used to be. Hunting for food and not trophies. Being from the midwest USA I'm happy to see Europeans still get to enjoy this lifestyle.
It’s mostly against trophy hunting rather than hunting to eat. That said all hunting contributes to conservation in the USA thanks to the Pittman-Robinson Act among other legislation. Responsible hunters are among the biggest conservationists I know
You guys have the life right there. What an awesome place to be. Every scene looks like a postcard! I like that the one shooter was using actual old equipment. That has to be particularly fun to shoot.
I have never had the privilege of a pheasant hunt, or any wing shooting beyond Quail. (I guess turkey counts as wing shooting too) and it's been quite a few years since i did any of that. Your video was quite enjoyable! Makes me wish I had the means to obtain a muzzle loading shotgun and try my luck here in Arizona USA..
That was probably the most enjoyable video I've seen yet on RU-vid! Thank you my Hungarian brother! How I long to visit Hungary and support your country's dignified defiance of the encroaching Eurocrats and their ever-smothering globalism! I too am a muzzleloading enthusiast. You're clearly a gentleman with a respect for your history! I applaud you.
12k likes to 1.5k dislikes. It's crazy to think that a guy can be this respectful and mention that the game is destined for the plate, not to be wasted, yet such a high proportion of people still dislike the video.
Nice dogs, there is nothing like a pheasant hunt over a German shorthair. Thanks. Where I live, in northern Michigan, a combination of harsh winters and loss of habitat has made wild pheasant hunting a thing of the past.
Great video! We have to drive several hours to find pheasant and have a hard time bringing any home. I can’t imagine adding to the difficulty by shooting such vintage arms. Congrats on the hard work to get it legal and for bringing some birds home!
Love that Lada Niva! SO wish we could easily get these in the states. Well done with the hunt also, I like all the videos showing that flintlock 20gauge .
Love it, very informative about how you do it, All of these hunting videos in general are very relaxing, and the shooting is exciting to watch, the cinematography is really good as well.
Another beautiful and entertaining video, thank you. I only wish we could have seen more of the dogs working the field. We use Beagles here in New England.
Thanks C&B for a memory that reminds me of hunting a long time ago in Bavaria Germany but with a breech loader.. Not a lot of shooting but a very enjoyable time with local jagers.
You do hunters a great justice . Taking food from the field to the table is something everyone that buys supermarket meat should experience ... come to Australia I shall show you around 👌 great vid
I'm going flintlock pheasant hunting with my brothers this fall. My little brother is using his brown bess, My older brother is using his Blunderbuss and I'm useing my charleville. Edit: We went dove hunting with them here's the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z5t7GxI59Ao.html
You don't really have to add in voice over. The whole video could just be in Hungarian, and adding in some simple subtitles would work just fine. I'd honestly prefer that actually.
now at 72 ,i used to beat and shoot .but now the pheasants come to my garden,(i live on a farm S.E UK) and still have a flintlock .But laws now say i cannot shoot. Thanks for reminding me of the past/good times Thanks,, they now have names and lots of food, and keep away from the guns.
So far the best videos I ever seen, good tips ,safe. Please share more info on where you hunt or how someone can go there. Thank you and keep your powder dry.
I couldn’t help noticing, when you shoot, you use your for finger to pull the first trigger. Wrong - this is a common mistake with double trigger shot guns. Double tiggers are very quick and effective if used properly. The correct method is to place your for finger on the first trigger ‘as normal’ then you second finger on the second trigger, so you have two fingers on the gun before you shoot. Then you pull the second trigger first. If you need a second shot you pull the first trigger. If the gun is manufactured properly the tightest choke should be on the barrel activated by the first trigger.
Waidmannsheil! Also, what is that orange cord at 1:23 ? To keep the gun from falling over? And another question, how do you unload a gun like that, after the drive?
I took up using hawks after in my old age of 60 I didn't like leaving lead in live rabbits etc so took up hawking Its exiting and rewarding after a small amount of results
How does pheasant actually taste? Something said dry like a turkey breast. I can't see wasting money to hunt something distasteful. So there must be something good. But I would like a double barrel side by side even black powder, I'd prefer white powder, but it's not available yet. Preferably where it's loaded at the bore.
A very good video : nice guns, nice dogs, good fat birds. Even the Lada Niva 4x4 was good. I liked the cultural respect for the shot game at the end. Lovely country you have shoot over.
That was a nice video. Thanks a lot. And the gun is soooo nice. That will be a good build project too, sad to say there are so many nice flintlock guns but such low time to build. At the moment the wheellock pistol is on the bench ;-)
This muzzle loading gun was/is used by the konyak Naga of India even before the Britishers, you may come and find how it started to develop during those time
I enjoyed your video! Early season bird hunting is a month away here in the US - Sharptail Grouse and if I'm lucky some Hungarian Partridge. After watching the video I wonder if you still find your partridge in good numbers there? I saw 2 coveys on a trip to Montana last year. It seems the long term trends are always downward for upland birds here due to habitat loss, but there are still places to find birds on publicly accessible land here if you are persistent and willing to travel.
Interesting to see yiu have jackal issues. Here in Alabama we have coyote issues, and they are generally killed on sight. We have plentiful feral hogs throughout the southeast, and ditto.
Excellent videos, could you do a video on the Pedersoli Model: S293 "Slug" Side by Side cal.12 CYL./CYL. o answer question on if the Pedersoli Classic Side-by-Side Black Powder Shotgun and if it can shot slugs. I have seen a patched 60 cal ball shot out of the classic. I would like to see the slug gun video.
Andrew Bayer isn’t that a disadvantage when shooting birds, which have very acute colour vision? I know it works with mammals which have monochrome vision, but better surely to shoot more carefully, ie. only at a positively identified target with a safe background in case of a miss.
@@charleslyster1681 He mentioned at the start something about a legal battle to allow driven pheasant shooting. Perhaps its some safety precaution imposed by the government?
hi friend i am a fan of your channel and also of those musket spikes i know you don't know me but i don't have money and you can't get a rarity like this here in brazil.
