17mpg? Then there was something wrong with it. I have a 1090RR Brutale, which even ridden very hard will give 30mpg. They are not economical commuters obviously but neither are they terrible guzzlers. Brutally quick though.

@@davericketts3276 The shop demo was just as thirsty. The 750 Brutale had a really hot cam, and I couldn't keep it under 100 mph. I would hold the throttle dead steady at 75 mph (acceptable speed in the SF Bay Area, if you had room) and the bike would creep up to 100 and stay there. I test rode the 910 which came out the next year, and it had more grunt, but was a rather pedestrian bike by comparison to the 750. I just couldn't stay off the cam, so I sold it after a year for fear of losing my life/license.
