A normal day in my dreams

I feel seasick just watching this. Had two lovely cruises on Columbus in 2017 and 2019 will miss her terribly.

I sailed on this ship when it was the Star princess Christmas of 90/91 (I can’t remember). We sailed out of San Juan and there was a tropical storm which delayed departure one day I believe. Once we set sail it was insane and folks were getting sick left and right. My young self had an absolute ball and it’s left me with a life long enjoyment of rough seas. I’m crazy I know!

Amazing video, very sad she’s being scrapped. Had pleasure of cruising with CMV, lovely crew. Such a shame all the ships are going I expect Astoria will be next :(

I cruised on the Columbus a few years ago (actually on business with Nutri Stat - pest control and education of staff, checking bug filters etc.). She was a lovely ship, with very friendly staff. I remember hearing several times that the bay of Biscay can be a b#stard.

I joined the ship in Sydney where passengers told me about the storm. So sad that covid destroyed this cruise line. The crew were wonderful.

Perhaps better to say that the bridge deck is 8 decks above where the water level is meant to be - in this case, the water decided of its own accord to raise that level considerably.

And finally RU-vid recommended me 🙃

I was on that cruise and the storm was pretty bad, people falling over etc. So sad that CMV is no more, went on lots of cruises with them. 😢

How sad the video is giving only thanks to the captain without considering all engine crew below decks making sure all machinery is running. I want to see the captain loosing propulsion in this kind of weather or at least suffering a black out. Hail to all engineers in the world WE ARE THE UNSEEN UNAPPRECIATED HEROS!!!

So sad. We cruised with Astor and were expecting to be round-the-worlding on poor Columbus now (2021). A waste of good ships...and of competent staff. From memory it was Columbus and Marco Polo with the first-ever mid-ocean passenger exchange in the Indian Ocean, to get the allAustralia-NZ passengers back to Fremantle and all the European passengers back to Tilbury, regardless of which cruise they'd been on before COVID took over. Also, no COVID on any CMV.

In diesem Sturm waren wir an Bord. Wir waren am 7.1. 20 in Rotterdam gestartet und hatten eine Weltreise vor uns. Zum Glück war dies der einzige Sturm, den wir auf dieser Fahrt erlebt haben.

What's it like when trying to take a dump on a ship in heavy seas?

Damn, I watched this whole video thinking "this reminds me of that cruise I went on in 2011, with the crazy storm". Even the front of the ship looks the same. Turns out it is the same, this ship used to be the Pacific Pearl (among many other names it's had), which is indeed the same ship I was on. Hah. Was this ship designed for the bay of biscay? Brittany Ferries operates in the bay of Biscay on their spanish routes and even in rough weather nothing gets damaged

Sadly being scrapped with her fleetmates

Honestly I can never understand why are cruise ships never properly prepared for rough weather? We all know what happens at sea, especially shipping operators so there's no excuse, they only have themselves to blame for such breakages. And needless to say the passengers on such ships can't live without absolutely gallons of absolutely dreadful alcohol!

What happened to that beer storage room was a terrible tragedy
