This was a long one. The editing alone was about a week, it's been 95% done for the past 3 days but was constantly tweaking things because it always seemed like it could be better with 1 or 99 things changed or presented differently. I also had to learn to mod MvC2 before even starting getting footage, so I could have a version that didn't have music in the background. Anyway, I'm hype with how it turned out, hope you enjoy watching it!

I think I’m one of the few people that couldn’t truly get into it after playing 2. It has a lot of love poured into it but it’s not the same tbh.

Oh no. For me personally though, this game at a low to mid level just feels crazy difficult to penetrate. Granted, it could be there’s just less players playing the game at all but it feels like there’s two types of players now in the game that makes it feel broken and impenetrable. The people who are semi new to it and haven’t figured it out and those who’ve been on since 2012 (I play on the PS4 version for context). The problem would probably still be there even if the game was more like MvC2 but shit still hurts.

@@donovanchilton5817 I disagree with that generalizing word, and i followed the release. It didnt look bad, and it was better than Sf4 (surely the ugliest fg of that gen) and most importantly it was a revival of an important series. People accepted both Mvc3 and Sf4 very well even if Capcom's fg's had no chance to compete graphically against all big 3d fg's.

It feels weird being nostalgic about MVC3. I remember watching trailers on RU-vid about it and attending a midnight launch for both vanilla and Ultimate with my college friends. Time is a crazy thing man.

Two of the best fighting ames of all time probably. SF4, SF3, SF2 also very strong notable mentions as well! Marvel 2 and 3 (and sf4) did such a wonderful job of keeping the hardcoreness and depth of a fighting game while also adhering to the casual market too. In Marvel 2, casual players dont mind losing because the engine, look, and feel of the game is so wonderful and just FUN. Marvel 3 introduced XF and it really made anyone feel like they could win but the pros learned to keep that in check for the most part at top level and the craziness made it enjoyable and great to spectate. Two masterpieces by Capcom for sure!

@@tootsie_ it was white, making the contrast on moves easier to see from opponents. I once entered a tourney and they picked a dark ass stage while my opponent's colors where all black. I couldn't make out shit and lost bad due to it

Really makes me appreciate both games so much more, like how the sprites of capcom games of that time aside from third strike were very pastel? Like a lot of bright pastel colors for the characters, which looks incredibly distinct. Marvel 3 did a great job, but the more I look at the comic shading the less I like it; it generally weakens character identifiability since its a lot of black, and just makes the models look a bit muddier. That being said, the models on their own look great, especially for 2011. Definitely a lot to love about both games!

I've been playing mvc infinite and mvc 3 all week but I still love mvc 2 and the original better but mvc 2 on dreamcast still hold up superior after all these years its truly a masterpiece.

Yep ever since these comic movies became profitable the series in general wasn't being realized to it's full potential. Behind the scenes for Infinite is a mess. In hindsight I'm surprised MVC3 turned out as well as it did.

Fuck, seeing these makes me a bit nostalgic, the vs series was fantastic. Mvc2 and Umvc3 are my favorite games and even Mvc1 and MvCI with all of its flaws are still enjoyable to this day. Hope the versus series comes back

3 with rosters of 2 and 3 + exclusive characters from mods and options to configure light effects ( I didn't watch yet, it might exist ) as 3 is extremely beautiful, but for eyes' comfort / long sessions, same game with a way of using older graphics sometimes could be useful, as there was a period graphics were no longer too pixelated, and not too detailed with very flashing lights yet. An option to switch graphics between 3 and 2 on a button like they did for GoldenEye would be appreciated, even if it would be acceptable only against AI, and maybe not concerning characters' sprites, due to hitboxes. Or only in options out of fighting, but including characters' sprites too. I love how 2 and 3 both look amazing, with 3 really feeling like comic books.

I prefer the Marvel vs Capcom 2 version than MVC3. The art design looks comic style, as the new version looks very dark and bright. And the characters look weird.

Bleh. MvC2 re-uses way too many Alpha / Darkstalkers / CoTA sprites. MvC3 actually looks like a comic book with its shading.

You might like this MVC3 MUGEN I play from time to time. It has the 2D artstyle of MVC2, but has a number of the characters exclusive to MVC3. There are only twenty-eight playable characters, but the selection is pretty good and despite it having some of that roughness typical of MUGENs it's pretty fun to play.
